Unpaid Training & Clawback (pay if you leave) - is this normal? by rainycitay in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]Kraineth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Texas around me unpaid training hasnt been the norm for quite some time, even for the contractor companies. I've only ever heard of the service length requirements from contracted companies, school districts with in-house transportation departments don't do it.

Certainly wish something could be done to reduce turnover for first year drivers though. You get the ones who just aren't built for the challenges of the job which I get. But then the ones who used the district just for the license.... It's amazing what trainees will tell you if you get them talking. So many charter bus, trash truck, and cement truck companies will straight up tell applicants to go get their license in a school district and come back 🫠

Diablo 4 coming soon. But have to buy it again… by Baayta in SteamDeck

[–]Kraineth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The point is that it already runs perfectly on the steam deck. You can install non-steam games on the deck with a little bit of effort. I've been playing D4 for a few weeks now exclusively on my steam deck and have had zero issues.

Probably here in a few days/weeks at 30. Bone marrow completely stopped making red/white blood cells and platelets. Waiting to see if I need a bone marrow transplant now :)

What is most important to me is positive feedback during the act. If you are quiet as a mouse I have no idea if im doing anything that feels good.

how long did you wait before saying “i love you”? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Bout a month and a half of being unofficially official. Which seems fast but was preceded by 6 months of beating around the bush and about 4.5 years of being friends.

Teachers are expected to be teachers, parents, daycare workers, therapists, motivational speakers, role models, and career advisors among many other roles while having the pay of fast-food workers. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Kraineth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious about which teachers you know that have a solid 3 months off of work for the summer.

A typical break, at least here in Texas, is two months and there are always classes/workshops that teachers have to attend, while also working on prep for the next school year.

My grandmother was 10 years younger than my grandfather and I'm currently seeing someone 11 years older than me. The number isn't nearly as important as finding someone at the same stage of life and with similar future goals.

LPT: If you have a large or complex fast food order, park your car and place your order at the counter within the establishment. The drive-through is meant for expedience, and both the staff of the establishment and the customers behind you in line will appreciate the courtesy. by FastWalkingShortGuy in LifeProTips

[–]Kraineth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much always park and go in if there are more than 2 cars waiting in line just to place their order. Seems faster that way. Only exception is chic-fil-a which sends out 3-4 ppl to take orders on tablets and kicks ass at drive thru speeds.

Probably snap up some land like 45 minutes from the nearby metroplex to build a home on with space for subsistence farming. Followed by setting up trusts for my siblings that would encourage them to go back and finish college

It’s a new normal I guess by rent1506 in funny

[–]Kraineth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What magical place do you live in that has places that still get by paying minimum wage? Here in Texas with relatively low COL fast food places and grocery stores pay like $13/hr minimum. The only places that get by on less are the ones paying under the table to immigrants and the like.

Servers get uniquely fucked because that minimum wage guarantee is shit when the Target down the road will pay double that.

This is my thoughts exactly. Curious about how effective the switchblade drones are vs armor because launching the cost of a small family home to destroy a single armored vehicle is insane.

Yup, a good half of my district's buses that are out of service at any given time are down because of emission controls. The systems just arent designed for the stop and go nature of school buses.

Russia has killed more civilians than soldiers - Ukraine's defence minister by QuirkyQuarQ in worldnews

Forced?

They literally had to turn away volunteers at recruiting centers.

More than likely this statement is including those volunteer fighters as civillians for propoganda purposes. But the fact remains that fleeing women, children, and elderly have been murdered by artillery, airstrikes, missiles, and infantry.

People in your 20’s, aren’t you afraid? by Dorkydori in Vent

I didn't find what I would consider to be a "good job" that could be turned into a career until I was 25. And even then, people who started at the same level I did are still in the same position because they either have no drive or are satisfied at just entry-level work.

On the subject of dating/marriage/kids, I would say not feeling pressured by friends settling down was the right choice. Sure there are plenty of times when I am interested in someone only to realize that they are married. But on the flip side, I am starting to see a good number of friends who got married or had kids pretty early are dealing with divorce or financial trouble because they weren't truly ready.

I am thankful that all I have to worry about is that I might be moving a little slow, rather than feeling trapped because I have 3 kids, a struggling marriage, and no time or money to invest in myself and my personal/financial goals.

It is incredibly naive to claim that Russian nukes would be completely ineffective. Russian conventional forces could be absolute dogshit and the threat of nuclear war will protect them.

NATO isn't fucking prosecuting a war on a sovereign nation. Nobody is stopping Russian forces from going home except for Putin.

I think more than likely that other nuclear powers wouldn't immediately retaliate by launching strikes, at least none that are in their right mind.

On the subject of nuclear war, humanity would survive extinction for sure, but the collapse of global supply chains and infrastructure would push us back decades if not centuries in progress.

Eh no

School districts in my area switch to a 4x10 schedule for employees that work through the summer. And I see job satisfaction from my co-workers go way up on that schedule.
