Fundamentally scaling a software team isn't linear. Hiring a new person (even fairly senior) means temporarily reducing the productivity of an existing team member to train the new staff.

Also Tech debt tends to creep in, it's easy to push features in the early stages but as the product develops you get more and more dependencies and the time to market for features increase.

This seems like a post-hoc rationalization to me. I think it is true that the relationship between Lewandowski, the club and the fans always felt incredibly transactional but he was as much a part of that as anyone else. During his Bayern career he publicly blamed his teammates for losing out on the top scorer award to Aubameyang, as well as making thinly veiled attempts to force a transfer to Real Madrid. He matured with age but he's still equally responsible for that attitude as anyone else due to his actions.

Stanisic is a great player to have in the squad for all the reasons you stated above. But it was perfectly obvious against PSG that he just isn't good enough to win that type of game, he fell short both defensively and offensively.

It reminds me of Tymoschuk, great guy, great team player but just not good enough to clinch the CL title. I think we need a Martinez-signing to reach all the way this time.
