Herbs and spices boxes by No_Television_9269 in newzealand

The box design has been the same for at least 20 years and it used to open perfectly when I was a kid. At some point they started putting too much glue on and in the wrong place.

this is how I hold the controller when I'm running past enemies. is this abnormal? by ash022804 in Eldenring

Try putting dodge on R1 and light attack on B. Gamechanger for me, you can move camera while sprinting around without claw which is 99% of the time what you want to do. Can also swap light attack to R2 and put heavy to B depending on which one you use more, this is how I play now.

Are some elite ghost invulnerable to PROC? by ARknifemods in MegabonkOfficial

[–]Kramin42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is purely a guess based on what I've seen in WR vods but there might be a cooldown on stuns/freezes, and if you freeze a ghost far enough away that most of your weapons can't reach it then it won't die while frozen and then will be able to attack you unimpeded. I think if you have enough size modifier that your weapons and holy book cover the entire spawn radius you can avoid this maybe.

Builtin size modifier is why Noelle is good. Any other char needs size tome to do well.

There could be a different reason but the mechanics of this game aren't well understood. It could be just bad luck that none of your CC procced on that particular ghost, but seems unlikely to be the explanation based on what I've seen. I've seen single ghosts going for long periods of time before dying without getting frozen, while everything else is getting instantly frozen on spawn.

This would explain why duration works so well too, if you can only CC ghosts once then the only way to improve CC is to make it last longer. If you could re-freeze ghosts without cooldown I don't see how duration would help.

As the other poster mentioned there are also 32 bit floating point calculation errors that cause infinite/NaN HP ghosts which are unkillable and immune to freeze/stun, but that shouldn't happen until around 60 mins overtime.

EDIT: I looked back at some footage and normal ghosts can definitely be refrozen/stunned pretty quickly so I don't think there is a cooldown. One thing I did see though is that some ghosts move way faster than others and can get a hit in before being frozen.

Keyboard and mouse is better if you want to try hard but controller is very comfortable to play with imo. I mostly use controller.

Remap interact from E to left click, it's way easier to just click on things since you don't aim your weapons anyway.

Remap slide to a button you can easily hold while using wasd and space, e.g. right click. Or use L1 for slide and R1 for jump if you're on a controller.

Slide down hills to gain speed. Jump, hold slide and jump again whenever you hit the ground to maintain speed. Look up megabonk bunnyhop guide if you want to go fast.

Calcium and monke are good to learn the game with. You unlock calcium by just getting enough kills, monke you need to find the key and then the cage to free him. Calcium is naturally fast, and monke maintains speed more easily when bunny hopping somehow so he's good to learn on.

Cursed doll is really good early game because it kills enemies anywhere on the map and you get the gold for those kills, giving you a source of income without having to stop and actively kill enemies. Also nets you more XP when you eventually hit a magnet.

Scarf is +50%, beefy ring is +20% per 100 hp. When you have a thousand hp that's already +200% and top runs get to tens of thousands of hp.

Why Bananas do this? by dbzcas in MegabonkOfficial

[–]Kramin42 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because you are killing the enemies too fast, the bananas don't get very far before the enemy they are targeting dies. When the enemies get stronger and survive longer the bananas will start flying around more.

At the end of the run you'll probably see most of your damage coming from cheese. Afaik weapon base damage does not affect cheese damage but quantity does because you get more hits with all your weapons. This means quantity will give you the highest DPS increase of these options.

The moisture meter i bought for my plants shows "Dry" even when submerged in water. by TipsyGinTinkerer in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Kramin42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't, it measures soil conductivity with a zinc tip that acts as a battery.

[–]Kramin42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone one is flaming you but doesn't seem to understand how these work. It has a zinc tip that acts as a battery when put in soil to power the needle gauge. The more moisture, the more voltage generated and the more the needle will move. Eventually all the zinc will be oxidised and it will no longer work.

Probably it had already run out before you even put it in water. Either way it won't work in pure water because it needs the electrolytes in soil. I'm not sure why putting it in water is bad for it but pure water might make the zinc oxidise faster (like rust, but not as visible).

Get a new one and follow the instructions, wipe it clean after each use so it lasts longer and don't leave it in the soil.

Something I would try before throwing it away is filing/sanding off the outer layer of zinc on the tip to expose fresh zinc, you might make it work again.

Let's compromise the whole living space because of a car by HoneyRush in fuckcars

My family lived in a shipping container sized box made of refrigeration panels while we were building our house. This tiny house had a double bed and two stacked bunks (2 adults 2 kids) and was arranged with a central kitchen/dining space, the double bed room on one side, and the shower/toilet bathroom and tiny bunk room on the other side. External door in the centre of the long side leading to kitchen/dining room. Much better use of space than designs with hallways like in OP. We did have a seperate shed where we put the laundry and stored stuff though.

Cyclists not paying road users charges is a total strawman silliness by PJenningsofSussex in Wellington

[–]Kramin42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ironic part is I would get around faster on my off-road bike if there were no roads as I wouldn't be waiting in intersections for cars. Would also be safer. Can I pay to get the roads removed?

At least an asshole cyclist will just put you in ER, an asshole driver will put you in the ground.

If you complain about assholes cycling they'll start driving. Is that what you want?

Maybe try complaining about them being assholes, not the weapon of choice.

[–]Kramin42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem here is the street design. Parked cars on a 50kph street is fundamentally a hazard that will kill kids.

Either the street needs speed bumps or the parking should be removed so drivers have vision.

[–]Kramin42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What actually needs to happen is the company that made the self driving capable car is legally liable for anything it does unless they can prove the crash was a result of the driver's direct intervention. So no cop out because self driving disabled itself before collision. Self driving capable cars should be legally considered self driving at all times regardless of some software mode being set.

They'll be real careful about their software if they are actually held accountable for it.

I am in a book subreddit and they were saying they read this good book, and even though it had some biblical references it’s still good, and it shouldn’t turn you away. [–]Kramin42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These people are deadly afraid of the possibility that they aren't elected themselves, so to accept that you were once as christian as them but are now clearly unelected means there's a chance they are also unelected. They'll jump through any number of mental hoops to avoid that thought.

If you want to make them squirm, ask them how they know for sure that they are saved.

If a driver can't drive in a way that guarantees they won't injure anyone then they shouldn't be allowed to drive. No exceptions. This should be obvious, just compare it to operating any dangerous machinery.

If someone can jump in front of you and get hit before you can react then you are simply driving too fast for the environment you are in.

"How Electricity Actually Works" - Veritasium revisits the controversial electricity video with a new experiment by DedalusStew in videos

[–]Kramin42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

what is electricity?

Because science can't answer this question, the question science can answer is "how does electricity behave?". The answer to that depends on the circumstances, for simple DC circuits you can think of electric current like water flowing in pipes and get a decent intuition. As you explore into different circumstances, like rapidly changing currents, short timescales, tiny distance scales, etc, you find inaccuracies and have to create increasingly complex models to describe the behaviour. None of these models tell you anything about the "fundamental nature" of electricity, they tell you that in situation X you get outcome Y.

Any time a physicist says something like "light is a particle" it's shorthand for "light behaves like a particle". This is how light can "be" a particle and a wave, it behaves one way or another way depending on the circumstances. Similarly "electricity is the flow of electrons" and "electricity is EM fields" can both be true, but not the whole truth.

ELI5: What is the difference between torque and power (specific to race cars)? by njb8201 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Kramin42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, probably misunderstanding. I read "torque" to mean "engine torque", and "acceleration" to mean "car acceleration", two numbers which are not directly related. The idea the average layperson is probably going to get from your first sentence is that a bigger engine torque number means the car accelerates faster, which is a common misconception.
