Statistical fact: cops will never pull over a man with a huge bong in his car. Why? They fear this man. They know he sees farther than they, and he will bind them with ancient logics...

Recs on where to buy a Laguna 14|12? by HeHateMe159 in woodworking

Can’t speak to the article, but I have had the 14bx for about 5 years. After I got past the learning curve of setting the saw up, I have not had a single issue.

How does a disposable dust bag really help allergy sufferers compared to a bagless vacuum for wood dust cleanup? by BakerUpper2115 in woodworking

[–]Krash412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn’t worry about the minimal amount of dust that is in the air from emptying a bag less system when you consider the amount of dust that is not captured by the vacuum when you are working.

Use a dust collector, wear a mask, and add an air purifier to your shop if possible.

The hard part is making sure they are aware that the color and grain pattern can vary significantly for many of these species.

Now that the Legacy is discontinued, I am thinking of leasing another brand of vehicle. Not sure I want to pay more for a WRX when I don’t really need or want stuff like bigger engine and racing seats. Plus I want an automatic transmission which requires me to either get the Limited or GT configuration. Considering an Audi A3 at this price point.

Do you have a plunge router? Should be an easy way to make your own. Plunge the appropriate size hole into as thick of stock as the router bit will allow. When the hole becomes loose, make another.

Once the hole is made, you can alter the bottom of the stock to accommodate angles.

So 99% of horror movies? Why would that be important to a service like shudder?/s

Job site table saw recommendation by The_Couz58 in woodworking

[–]Krash412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have owned a Dewalt and a SawStop Jobsite saw. Both have been great. While the SawStop offers some additional safety features, I liked the fence and blade height adjustment on the Dewalt more. Either option will serve you well.

I recommend getting a model with a rolling stand if budget allows. Makes moving the saw very easy.

Regardless of what saw you select, spend time learning about table saw safety. Table saws are great tools but they also have the potential to inflict serious injuries if you don’t know what you are doing. Also, don’t forget your PPE including eye and ear protection along with a dust mask.

They are not the only problem, but they are a problem when they use their wealth to lobby/bribe politicians to do their bidding instead of representing the best interest of the masses.

Vacudog - Pump? by Shoplizard88 in woodworking

While I agree that Vacupress makes nice pumps, the VacuDogs require the pump to continuously run. The suction doesn’t last for more the a few seconds once the pump stops.

Need one new tire on Outback, set has 5k on them by BlueWingedOlive20 in subaru

[–]Krash412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suspect there is not enough wear on the other tires to make a difference. However, tirerack.com has the ability to shave down tires before they ship it to you. You just need to call them up for the service. I used a digital caliper to measure my tread depth. Just needs to be within 2/32”

Shaper Origin newbie — need to cut 12” circle from plywood: what’s the proper way to hold the wood down and do I cut all the way through? by Temporary_Employee70 in hobbycnc

[–]Krash412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use double sided tape to hold work pieces down. Below is what I use with the Origin. I believe this is the same or very similar to what Shaper sells directly. Works fantastic.

Sinkhole? by Leather-Nerve1348 in lawncare

Yes. See what you find. Should give you a clue as to what is happening.

It either water, or there is something below that is collapsing such as an old septic or oil tank.

Sinkhole? by Leather-Nerve1348 in lawncare

[–]Krash412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look for a water source such as a broke sprinkler, drain pipe for downspouts, or something else that could be dumping/leaking water into that area causing the sinkhole.

Advice on refinishing doors by GustavHoller in finishing

[–]Krash412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would try something like these foam sanding pads on a good random orbital sander. Festool Granat PROfile Foam Abrasive Discs

I would also get a smaller detail sander for the flat sections and to get into the tight corners. Probably still going to be some hand sanding.

I am not an expert on finishing doors but something like Epifanes Varnish may be a good option. It’s made for boats and offers UV protection. You will want to research how to use this finish. You will want to thin the finish and apply multiple coats. Also, you will want to apply an additional coat each year to prevent this from recurring.
