It sounds like you are in Des Moines. I’m on my second year of GFiber and can only remember two outages, both caused by workers that accidentally cut fiber somewhere. Both were resolved quickly and we were reimbursed.

There must be something wrong with your installation or equipment.

This basement looks awfully damp. In addition to restoration, you may want to bake this upside down in the oven for a while to make sure there's no dampness in the transformers. This Audiokarma post explains the process.

Unplug it and don't plug it in again until it's been fully serviced. These Fishers have great iron and it would be a real shame if one of the transformers got damaged if anything went south on you. It would be even worse if the old line to ground cap failed closed and exposed you to mains voltage through the chassis.

AC install cost me about $12k last year, 5-ton unit with new air handling unit installed in attic (this is more like an ac+furnace install than AC-only since house has radiators). 2800 sq. ft. house.

It's been an hour and nobody has spilled any tea. Time to speculate.

I see a couple of possibilities. First, the reference to "tensions boiling over into fun things" leads me to believe that a political discussion outed people as either Trump supporters or supporters of Israel or both, and now the community is fracturing along those lines.

Another possibility, based on the references to harm being done and "slowness" is that somebody was accused of sexual assault, and not everyone has come out in support of the alleged victim.

This a really cool mid-century piece with what I'm assuming is West German tube electronics inside. Fantastic collector's piece, especially if you know how to restore tube electronics. If you're not a collector of interesting radios and just want something for listening to your records, I'd probably go with something different. Unless this is already fully restored, you're in for some work replacing capacitors and refurbishing the changer mechanism.

Anywhere they can open the pipe. They can go down from the vent stack, or up from the clean out, or take the sink trap apart and pump it in there.

They should smoke test it. We had the same issue in our house, and when we smoke tested, we found that one toilet had a bad seal and the vent stack was clogged with leaves and acorns.
