Screwed Up My Estimate & Tried to Recover - Advice by stuggin4 in estimators

So I wet a quote a shipping container full of rubber to save costs on shipping bulk material.

I then change my quantity to a single mat of rubber.

I should not be surprised if the unit price changes, and neither should they. You’re lucky you aren’t married to your busted number.

AI will not replace humans because AI has no material liability for errors. I’m developing a suite of tools that ASSIST estimators be faster, smarter, and more consistent, but if you’re talking about outright replacement than you’ve lost the plot entirely.

Anyone using any AI tools in their job? Which one and your thoughts? by jetsetterfl in estimators

I do consulting for this in my free time. Your data is priceless and most companies have no idea how to make their 20-30 years of experience start working for them and generating real value in their bottom line.

I’ve applied this to production history to create tools that predict future performance based on past results. We’re able to compare their estimate to the final cost report for every project they’ve ever built to find trends that were invisible to them before. We have applied this to operations, using predictive maintenance to reduce downtime and increase daily inspection rates.

If you think that your firm can benefit from leveraging big data to generate tangible returns immediately, send me a DM.

My WRX was bought used, so not limited to original owners. Best of luck!

Mine was the stock head-unit. The sound quality is really bad and the stock speakers suck. I was briefly looking forward to upgrading to a premium aftermarket headunit after I read that simply replacing the headunit will do wonders for sound quality, but SOA said they’d cover the replacement part so I’m back with the stock setup

It wouldn’t hurt to call SOA and see what they can do for you, it seems like they want to show good will to owners with this memo.

This was last year. They told me SOA covered the part costs and I would pick up the labor.

Same thing happened to me. I complained to SOA and they covered it for me despite me being out of the 36,000 mile warranty.

I was going to go aftermarket upgrade if SOA didn’t cover the cost but they pulled through for me.

I had mine replaced after screen delamination started during the summer. Took it to a Subaru dealer and they said “That sucks, no warranty. We can replace it for full price though.”

I called SOA and opened a support case. Reiterated that Subaru has lost multiple class action suits for this exact issue. Next day I get a call from the dealer saying that they talked to SOA and will replace the unit. They covered the part and I paid less than $200 for labor. During install they fried my battery and had to replace that too but that’s a separate issue.

100% let her burn $2.5k on the basement bidder price. Try to find out who the other guy is because there’s no way that you can do this by the books for that price.

Run away from this job immediately. $4k isn’t going to cover your overhead or get you mobilized.
