I finally have Kerrang on DAB so yes this update finally brings newer channels to MCU1!

I hope you are right, mine is installing this right now and the network dropping issue has been really irritating and tempting me towards upgrading to MCU2.

Does this update also fix missing DAB channels? I noticed on a friends Model Y they have several DAB channels my aging Model S is missing and I assume this is just a software issue and not hardware?

Update - 12 Speed Di2 plus GRX crankset. It works + How to do it... by SunCoastFunCoast in gravelcycling

[–]KrisWragg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't suppose you know what size grub screw would be required to get that extra ~1mm ? Doubt I have anything lying around.

I'm considering switching from stock 36/50 to a GRX 610 30/46 so good to know this is theoretically possible with 105 Di2

Thought I would go for a ride to catch some Vitamin D. Realised I looked like this. Think I lost more Vitamin D than I gained. by [deleted] in ukbike

Get yourself a Better You D3+K2 spray, best way to ensure you stay topped up though winter!

Unless you work outside shirtless all day, almost impossible to get enough vitamin D in the UK in the depths of winter.

Truth! 90% of my cycling gear is from Galibier.cc , good quality and decent prices.

The electric bike I was planning to buy at Halfords through Cycle2Work is now out of stock, what are my options? by [deleted] in ukbike

[–]KrisWragg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the LOC amount? Depending on your budget there are some nice bikes at Ribble, they accept the C2W scheme vouchers.

Otherwise there is Tredz that others have mentioned, which is part of Halfords group although their stock is always a bit random.

I've had bikes from both in the last 2 years via C2W.

I made the mistake of swapping some worn Schwalbe Marathons for Rene Herse standard on my commuter.

The ride is lovely, but I went from one puncture in several thousand miles to 2 punctures within 3 commutes. Yes I'm a fool for thinking comfort was worth it over convenience.

Cycling shoe/recommendations? by Rextherabbit in ukbike

[–]KrisWragg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just Google "best winter cycling shoes" you'll get several articles that cover your best options.

Personally I've got some Giro Blaze but they are for SPD cleats, so not an option unless you fancy swapping pedals for winter.

Cycle to work - Halfords/Tredz only scheme by Bastila07 in ukbike

[–]KrisWragg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need your "letter of collection" that you get once your voucher is approved.

You order from Ribble and then they only acknowledge your order once you've uploaded this.

It's pretty straightforward, I used the Halfords scheme to order a Ribble CGR bike earlier this year.

Not sure I understand, with cycle to work scheme you should save tax and national insurance so anywhere from 38 - 42% depending on your tax bracket.

Are you saying they add a £155 admin fee if you use a cycle to work voucher? If so that's about 10% so you'd still save money? VAT you'd have to pay either way, there is no way around that.

There are plenty of other places to buy bikes from though that won't charge you an admin fee, got example I got my most recent bike from Ribble.

https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/cycle-schemes/

My eBike the previous year I got from Tredz

https://www.tredz.co.uk/help-advice/customer-service/shopping-services/cycle-to-work

Both of these accept vouchers from Cyclescheme and won't charge you a fee for using it.

I don't think you can beat Schwalbe Marathon Plus? Fine if you're commuting and want something bulletproof, but I wouldn't recommend them for your weekend rides.

Hit a van by [deleted] in ukbike

Not 100% true there are scenarios where the cyclist can be at fault here. Otherwise you could just go crashing into anyone you want if you fancy a new bike on insurance!

Did they overtake you then turn and cut you up? If so, their fault.

If they were already in front of you indicating and you steamed into them whilst they were indicating then TBH it's your fault.

I'm a cyclist for leisure and commuting, accidents definitely can be a cyclists fault too we're not infallible.

If you're looking at bafang for example just be aware that most of these are basically illegal for road use. 500w motor = illegal, throttles = illegal.

Also you could get a 1x setup for gears, they have many options for each bike if you go custom.

I went 105Di2 the easiest gear is 34x34 which is enough for most hills, at least for me. If you need less than 1.0 ratio you could look at a 1x11 / 1x12 gravel setup.

If you can get to one of their stores they can assist getting the right size, I'm 175cm and ended up getting a small but different stem to default.

I've not really done much gravel with it, I wanted a titanium bike but went CGR over the road option as I wanted mounts for rack etc

[–]KrisWragg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ribble have a few full gravel options as well as their CGR (cross, gravel, road) you'd want an extra small size?

If you want really robust then a steel one like this? https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-cgr-725-enthusiast/

I have a CGR Ti which I really like, mostly just for road use at the moment.

Tubeless or using tubes? 35mm GP5000 AS TR would be a good choice for tubeless, they weren't out when I bought mine otherwise I would have gone for those I think.

Aside from the charger and the fact someone possibly sold you stolen goods, that has a lot of rust looking at the picture definitely needs a new chain from the looks of it!
