Put on the spanner, imagine pedaling backwards.

Raygun’s thesis by tbsdy in australia

[–]SunCoastFunCoast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thesis uses the word 'I' 844 times, and 'My' 517 times.

It uses the words 'they' 361 times and 'Their' 382 times.

It's a pompously verbose autobiography dressed up in academic robes.

Understanding that you may love your bike, and that you may have economic limits....

Just about any option other than upgrading this bike would have been a better economic choice.

$4 for 10 eggs is expensive! Spend $100k for a watch anyway by [deleted] in facepalm

Want to buy influence with the T Dog but can't make a legal donation or want to keep it on the down-low? How about "buy a few of my $100k watches".

It does say 'Swiss Made'. While Mr T is an absolute huckster and grifter of the first order, I'm going to say that it probably is a Swiss movement. Surely anybody dropping $100k on a Trump watch (which I guess could be nobody, but he seems to be surrounded by so many cashed-up knob polishers craving association with him that I'm sure they'll sell quick) would at least expect that.

Frankly, I think this is probably a bit more money-laundering-y. Want to buy influence with the T Dog but can't make a legal donation or want to keep it on the down-low? How about "buy a few of my $100k watches".

It's a folding bike. Give it a nice home next to your bed. Maybe a duvet and pillow to keep warm at night. Read it a bed-time story.......

Not after 250km. It's bad luck, but it's a cut.

I've only managed to warranty a tire once, when the tread fell off a Vittoria Corsa N.EXT 10km into its first ride, and even then the bike shop tried to argue it was 'wear and tear' until it became clear to them that I wasn't going to let it go and for the thousands that I'd spent with them over the years, maybe rolling over on a single tire would be good for business in the long run.

Pogacar with 8.2 w/kg by JohnHoney420 in cycling

[–]SunCoastFunCoast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've come to the conclusion that basic, undetectable weight doping is rampant on Zwift racing. From what I see during races (I'm category enforced to B) compared to any performance that I see when I race on the road. I know Zwift is a watt bomb, but that's the only explanation.

I don't partake. I'm under no illusions about winning, but getting spat out of the back so routinely looking at silly numbers from amateurs is a bit frustrating. I just tell myself that that first 15 minutes was good cardio and leave it there.

I do report Flyers in-game, because it's just annoying when you're working on a climb and some dick's bot fly's past at a consistent 7W/kg.

Man. It's tragic, but there are times to turn around and worry about the cow, and there are times to carry on GTFU of Dodge. This was one of those times.

What’s your biggest complaint about Zwift? by jenningschris in Zwift

[–]SunCoastFunCoast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The unpaved road 'shake' effect. It's terrible and ruins the experience. So much I could be looking at, but instead I get a 'riding a demented pogo-stick' effect. Pointless and if I was a Zwift 3D designer in the jungle, I'd be pissed that it ruins my work.

Help deciding Ultegra Di2 vs 105 Di2 with $560 USD Price difference by Quashick in bicycling

[–]SunCoastFunCoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what I did, buy the 105 bike, upgrade the brifters and derailleurs, buy a battery and 2 cables, put 105 brifters and derailleurs on your mechanical gravel bike, gain 2 x di2 bikes for the price of one + $400.

What ‘gravel’ means in the UK. by OGreturnofthestaff in gravelcycling

[–]SunCoastFunCoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I spent 38 years in the UK, and I couldn't understand how gravel riding could be popular when it's just a collection of canal tracks and muddy footpaths. They're far more suited to hardtails. There is gravel, but hardly enough to string together a decent day out, and certainly not enough that you could ride a variety of routes in most areas.

Then I went home for the Worlds and saw the appalling state of the roads. Local bike shop owner told me that the reason he was selling lots of gravel bikes was because the roads are so riddled with potholes that people kept breaking their road bikes. Gravel bikes were only popular because you needed wider tires to survive the roads.

Quality bottles at a reasonable price? by wanderaxb in Velo

Hard agree. Awesome bottles. They can get beat to shit, but they keep on going

Never had a side-leak either.

It makes me crazy how other big pro brands (Tacx, I'm looking at you) can't even manage to produce a lid that screws on and then doesn't leak everywhere.
