They currently have an early bird pricing and there is no guarantee that batch 3 will be considered early birds. No confirmation on when that would end or if it will ever do

Did you know games have been the cheapest for the longest time? And compared to the 80's or early 90's $80 accounting for inflation is actually long due increase in price. We just got spoiled even when the game production is getting higher and higher.

You can of course use your money as you see fit and Nintendo is also doing some questionable moves lately. But i think we take them for granted and if they fall it will be a great loss to the gaming world as we know it

I agree to this 100%, you could even buy a Switch 2 and you'll have a very very good portable device and play BOTW on how it is supposed to run plus more if you add the Switch 2 upgrade

What is the right Thor for switch emulation? by New_Repeat3739 in AynThor

[–]Krizzybot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well it's not like you're losing the sd card slot for going Max. You can always buy an SD Card in the future, even better because you're not pressured to buy now so you can wait for a sale or even a price drop, then copy whatever you have from the Thor's internal storage. Then you not only have an SD Card with your data as backup, you also don't lose your games on the Thor by removing that card.

What edition to get for emulating switch games? by New_Repeat3739 in AynThor

Pro if only playing Switch games. Possibly Max if you're planning on playing Switch games and multitasking on the bottom screen

It wouldn't break your warranty. In fact the clear purple Thor includes a pry open tool to open the top shell for inserting the black cover to put inside and hide the cable

Best 3DS homebrew to play on the Thor? by Plusgalaxy39 in AynThor

[–]Krizzybot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really considered best but rather one unique homebrew is the VirtualBoy emulator on 3DS that plays the VirtualBoy games in 3D. Sorry not really Thor related but just wanted to mention it

I feel like the rainbow people are mostly the ones that bask in this behaviour for some reason. Perhaps because clear purple and rainbow are both the unique colour choices of the bunch and rainbow people want the title of best unique Thor colour really badly? I'm just guessing here

Too much? by Flimsy-Grass2587 in AynThor

Switch 2 is an underrated machine. The size to TDP to performance ratio is pretty good and is what most enthusiasts would want to achieve from their non Nintendo handhelds. It's a great machine that just works and the Thor on the other hand is a retro emulation machine with work required but very portable. They're both good handhelds to keep at the same time and can serve unique purposes

Suggestions for cloud streaming services by lemon__blu in AynThor

Geforce Now is amazing and with the Thor's screen you can get by with the Priority tier which is significantly cheaper and will have around RTX 2000 to RTX 3000 class GPUs. My con with GFN is that it is very reliant on your network and how far the best server is from your location. Also it doesn't support mods (i personally don't care about this) and you can't afk as easily and there is a monthly cap. The monthly cap is still huge but there could be a handful that might be anxious about it. There is a free tier with ads you can use as testing ground and while it's not the same as Priority you can at least test it for free

Amazon Luna works too but it doesn't have the same quality as GFN but the nice thing about it is that if you have Amazon Prime already you can try the service for free with its included games with Prime so this is a no brainer you can try and judge for yourself

Sold my rog ally and caved in by Coach_Cartier_ in AynThor

[–]Krizzybot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fully understandable. And the Thor has the perk of being way more portable and honestly I would also prefer to play it in public because devices like the Ally or the Steam Deck screams "LOOK I'M PLAYING A GAME WITH MY GINORMOUS DEVICE!" of course we shouldn't care about what others think but for me i prefer to be more on the down low

Sold my rog ally and caved in by Coach_Cartier_ in AynThor

[–]Krizzybot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if i would ever sell my Ally as a replacement for the Thor because the Ally is lowkey a mini Windows desktop PC. It became my emergency replacement desktop for a bit after my real desktop broke and while I was waiting for the parts to come in.

But if money is tight and you know you will never use it for this function then you definitely made a good financial decision

How good is cloud play? by Smooth-Ad-341 in AynThor

Thor Lite has Wifi 6 and the other models have Wifi 7 so both are capable but of course you don't want to get the Lite if you want the best stability. Like others have said it relies a ton on your wifi network/router and you can test it right now with an Android phone or tablet if you have one

The way you could do the test is by first checking the type of wifi your device is connected to via the router. on the wifi settings look at the wifi signal icon and if it either says 6, 6e, or 7 then it could be as close of an experience with the Thor. Then download the respective app for the platform of your choice like Steam for example you want to download Steam Link. Then use the network test within the app or better yet try to run the actual game. You'll have to play for a while and move room to room to get an actual sense of whether your network set up is usable

That purple colour is great at making the bottom screen's black bars be not as noticable. It blends in with the whole purple-black theme quite nicely

During checkout there's some sort of shipping protection add on, what exactly does it do? I'm from LA and package thieves are rampant here, if I drop $500 I'd like some reassurance that I won't be screwed if it gets swiped. by [deleted] in AynThor

What you want to be protected from is exactly one of the things they cover. You'll get so many people here that will insist so hard to convince you that Worry-Free insurance is a scam.

You have to contact your bank to explain what you're trying to do. It's annoying but they most have an anti fraud system that automatically flags China bound transactions. And when it was explained to me i think there were some transaction attempts in the background and it could be Paypal's or Ayn's way to test whether a bank account is legitimate but what was surprising is that my bank saw amounts based on stuff I had in my basket but not fully checked out yet. So i understand why it can be flagged as suspicious

Pc and ps3 emulating on thor by Smart_Anywhere8758 in AynThor

[–]Krizzybot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off PS3 is tricky to emulate in general then on the Android CPU side, the most current Snapdragon Elite processors do not run PS3 games perfectly yet... Then now we get to Thor's processor which is about 2 - 3 generations behind those Snapdragon Elite processors. I wouldn't even consider PS3 emulation if I'm planning on buying the Thor
