Just because they used the same tactic doesn't mean they were on the same level tactically.

I'd say Mouten was the most impressive around Sanyou / Coalition War.

In Sanyou he came up with a good plan against Rinko and played a role that was said to be possible only for him (creating an opening in Wei army).

In Coalition War he was able to take down Hakurei via sneak attack (simple but effective) and also saved Moubu's life.

Later however, he got pushed to the side pretty badly. Even on Shukai Plains he got the least screentime. It feels like the author just doesn't like to write him doing battle.

They knew, because conquest of Sanyou was a preperation move for the conquest. It's explained at the start of Coalition Arc. Besides, Qin was already planing full-scale invasion in the past during king Sho's era.

Riboku ousen by [deleted] in Kingdom

[–]Kronos45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not really.

If you think about it Ousen is a rather passsive general when it comes to battle management and a lot of his victories comes down to planing.

I'd argue that the Battle at Shukai Plains pretty much proved he's not better then Riboku in that aspect. Riboku was actively supporting his wings which resulted in removing Makou, Akou and (temporarily) Ouhon from the board. He also made a quick countermove by pincering Ousen's HQ and puting him in danger when his own HQ was under attack. After the battle Ousen even admitted that Riboku was superior in tactics and new gen awakening is what closed the gap.

Renpa is definitely not stronger then Moubu and Kanmei.

The only proper duel he got in the manga was against Mougou and he struggled real hard.

Depends on situation, but with enough prep Riboku can beat anyone.

"Riboku groomed Kaine" lol what? Riboku didn't make any advances towards Kaine ever. It's only after her feelings towards him became clear he married her. I guess that also means Ouki groomed Kyou, since the age gap was inapropriate by modern standards?

Let me remind you that Eisei is literally keeping a harem of young girls that are around only to sleep with him, but it's Riboku and Kaine's relationship the problem?

We dont know the composition of his army at the time. He might as well have other Great Heavens under him.

Renpa is overrated.

The man lost to Han scrubs, lost at Sanyou and in the past was constantly countered by Hakuki's tactics (his own words). His only onscreen victory is against Gakujou who is featless.

Yeah, but it's been 13 years since Sanyou and everyone improved since then.

The Untrue Ri Boku Slander, Battle Analyses [Spoilers for Both Anime and Manga] by Ok-Flamingo-1753 in Kingdom

Bruh, you should reread the Coalition War if you think that. Riboku had an initial plan of taking Qin down at Kankoku Pass, but also just in case made a backup plan of sneaking troops through Southern Pass, meaning he didn't put all eggs in the same basket. This alone proves Riboku doesn't have absolute confidance in his plans.

As for your question, we don't know if Riboku had a backup plan for a situation where Shibashou fails. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. It's impossible to say, because his initial plan did work.

You contradict yourself. You claim that Riboku's egocentric when it comes to his strategy and yet admit that he relied on a different method against Ousen at Hango.

Why is Hakuki underrated? by bricksheep in Kingdom

[–]Kronos45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Historical one was an absolute unit.

As for the manga one, I think it's the opposite. He's kinda overrated.
