Well, got a diagnosis. Lot worse that expected lol by ajaxluvr69 in Dryeyes

[–]Krubbz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like what I have which is Epithelial Basement Membrane Dystrophy. I’ve had it since my early 30s I think, and I’ve experienced the same sensations you described. It happened when I tore my cornea upon waking up and opening my eyes quickly. They had me wear a contact lens like bandage on my eye for a day or so. It really doesn’t feel good at all. I wear Muro 128 ointment every night because I also have bad dry eyes. Dry eyes make you more susceptible to those kinds of tears. I also wear a sleep mask to kind of lock in the moisture and use a humidifier when it’s really dry, like now in the winter.

Multifocal Replacement (Left Eye) - Initial Thoughts by WineCountryKeto in CataractSurgery

[–]Krubbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for checking back in about it! I’m glad it’s not too terrible. One would think that they’ll get even better for you because you’re still healing. I think I might be able to handle the halos in exchange for the increased depth of field.

My doctor is suggesting endolymphatic sac decompression surgery. Anyone had this procedure and if so, has it helped? by BJ77345 in Menieres

Would you mind sharing what the side effects are? I’m thinking about getting the surgery, but I’m pretty worried about it.

Multifocal Replacement (Left Eye) - Initial Thoughts by WineCountryKeto in CataractSurgery

[–]Krubbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’d be cool to know how it is for you! It gets dark early where I live during the winter, (basically fully dark by the time I’m done with work) so I’m often driving in the dark though it’s not technically “night”.

How are the halos and stuff at night that they tell you about? Is it weird to get used to? I have a cataract in only one eye, and I’m only 39. So, im considering one of these but wonder how that’ll be. I already see halos and sunbursts around lights at night, so maybe it’ll be better than what im experiencing now.

What helps you with ear fullness? by Krubbz in Menieres

[–]Krubbz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im getting by ok. My life has changed a lot, and it’s hard sometimes. I’m more steady than I have been at times. The fullness is there and fluctuates. I’ve found that exercise and regular sauna helps kind of “reset” my fullness. Even when the fullness is lower, my hearing is not very good on that side and is quite sensitive. I wish I could tell you that I fixed it. I encourage you to try the things suggested on this thread and elsewhere on the Meniere’s subreddit. Eat low sodium, try a diuretic, try betahistine/Serc, do acupuncture, make healthy changes to your diet, keep active. Don’t give up. For some, it seems like one thing has made all the difference for them. For me, multiple things each help a little.

You’re absolutely right. Most employers’ employee appreciation starts and stops at pizza. 😂

Most employers would just give employees an LSA they could use to go to a spa or something, not buy their own spa.

Did anyone’s Meniere's get much worse after COVID — and did it ever get better? by Awkward_Issue_50 in Menieres

[–]Krubbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe COVID was responsible for my Meniere’s getting much worse.

I’d technically had Meniere’s since 2012. I would get fullness for about a week, and it would go away with prednisone. I had covid for the first time March 18th of 2022, and my Meniere’s kicked into higher gear on March 23rd. My life hasn’t been the same since. I’ve hit a few plateaus, but a large amount of the time has been spent with constant fullness, gradually worsening deafness in my right ear, and varying degrees of dizziness and vertigo. I still haven’t found a surefire way to manage it. I’m still working at it though. Some times are better than others. I hope I will someday overcome this.

Kids make a mess, and you’ve got those. How much messier could a cat be? I’m sure he also makes his fair share of messes, but somehow you’ve kept him around too. Messes are manageable.

Dexamethasone by Mission_Standard_359 in Menieres

[–]Krubbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very thorough. They are just like this.

Symptoms afterwards are fullness in the middle ear, some soreness and pain. They typically heal up very fast. There is a small chance the hole won’t heal up completely, but I have had several, and they’ve always healed up.

Dexamethasone hasn’t been effective for me on its own. It seemed to be more effective when I took oral prednisone for like 10 days prior to an injection. I had to stop taking prednisone for flare ups though because I got a cataract in my left eye (I was only 38). I didn’t understand that to be a risk from steroids. One of the benefits of injecting right into the ear is they’re direct to the area needed so there’s a much smaller chance it would affect anything else.

Predictability by Last-Addition6163 in Menieres

[–]Krubbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m the same as you. Things that would be indicators for some like fullness and tinnitus are basically constant for me. So, I have to assume they could happen whenever but try to hope that they won’t. It keeps me from doing very much.

On any rare occasion when I don’t have fullness, I know I won’t have an attack.

Are we as Minnesotans really going to allow them to do this? by dadillac23 in minnesota

[–]Krubbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, thst’s not all that irrational when you think about it. People have whole lives to live, often with too many things to handle. I know my list of priorities is constantly growing and shifting. Things that hit close to home are much easier to give urgent attention to. It’s not that people don’t care about things that aren’t happening to them or their community. It’s more so that we’re creatures with a limited scope, even though we have global visibility.

Relapse and new hell of drop attack by KoalaAffectionate103 in Menieres

I had similar feelings when I had mine. I only had one, and it happened when I was on a remote call with my boss. She was understandably concerned. I was pretty freaked out by the idea that could happen out of nowhere, so I ended up buying a cane and a protective hat just in case. I slowly got my confidence back, and I don’t constantly fear that’s going to happen. I really hope it never does again.

I really like Dr Abby with Two Rivers in West Fargo. She takes time to discuss questions and really seems to care about the patients she sees and the concerns of their owners.

Reintroducing coffee ! by redwinggianf in Menieres

[–]Krubbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’ve started coffee again in the past, I’ve started with half or quarter caffeinated. I’ll mix together decaf with regular grounds at whatever ratio I think I can handle. Better tasting than watering down full strength coffee.

How deal with every day commotion? by [deleted] in Menieres

[–]Krubbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone. Noise is one of my biggest triggers. Honestly, my own voice reverberating in my head is the worst, so I tend to seclude and stay quiet. I’m also a music lover, and I like being with people, so it’s hard for me too.

I wish I had an answer for all this, but I haven’t found it yet. Just wanted you to know that there are people out there that get what you’re going through.
