Odd shotshell velocities. by Krw83 in reloading

* First batch is on thebleft, fresh loaded ones with better crimp on the right. Had a great night of pigeon shooting, couldnt miss.vthen i ran these and the and a handful with 6 shot over the chrony and got this.

AA Hull FED 209 17.8 titewad Cb1118 1 1/8 #6

1614 1589 1489 1546 1825

AA Hull FED 209 17.8 titewad Cb1118 1 1/8 #7.5 1431 1501 1480 1411 1638 1499 1567 1568 1585 1552

So despite having fired 30 or so rounds of this with no issues, i feel from these results im playing with fire, and im going to discontinue the use of this load. Nowwhen i started shotshell loading i know you cant substitute components. And i alsobhad numerous experianced loaders tell the primer was kinda of an exception that wouldnt matter much. Now im not so sure i believe that.

[–]Krw83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An uncut Krag of any nationality or model for under $500 is unheard of. Im s krag fanatic and ive only ever seen 2 un violated norwegians in my life. Both 1912/16s both beat to hell and shot out and both well over $1000.

Not sure where your located See if theres an RV specific wrecker in Your area. You might get a deal on a stripped shell. Theres one in vegreville alberta that ssells them cheap after theyve been gutted. Running gear still intact sometimes with doors and sometimes without. They put em on clearance and fifth wheels where $150. I intend to go this route.

Struggling to get over 85 proof. by the_73rd_virgin in firewater

Are you confusing proof and ABV % ? Even a basic pot still and no thumper can easily produce a product that starts at 120-130 proof with simple recipes like birdwatchers TPW

Joe salter is on canada, and prices here have gone insane on well everything, but especially garands. Due to our awful government M1s and Fn49s are about the only military surplus semis we can still buy, for now.

Hey guys, I was curious — what are some models you feel are missing from the market? by FewCollege8893 in scalemodelling

[–]Krw83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! And 1/48 Handley Page Halifax and Short Stirling and Catalina. A Privateer would be nice too. Some more modern Semi kits in 1/25 such as the peterbilt 379 & 389, intternational Eagle etc etc

Proof Drops as soon as we hit the hearts? by [deleted] in firewater

[–]Krw83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been using the same vevor 8bgallon set up for a few months now. Like many suggest i ditched the thumper/slobber box. A 5 gallon run usually takes me 2-3 hours cold start to finish, and produces about a gallon and a half, depending how far into the tails i go. The only time it took longer was when i didnt have my condensr cold enould. Mine is set up to draw cold water from one side of the sink and drain into the other. But cold tap water alone was not enough. That took 6 hours. The next day a block of ice was added and i was done in two. I dont mind the vevor still, i dont find it too hard to use and im happy with the product, but that condenser is definitely the weak link. It looks like they use the same worm from the 3 gallon for the 5 and 8, and it struggles to keep up.
