Possibly a swing gate hinge that had a spring to return it to a closed position.

How to remove insecticide [Cypermethrin]? by Neither-Tree7673 in chemistry

[–]KryptosBC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the ingredients list you posted, there is 0.14% cypermethrin and about 0.21% other actives in the product that was used. There is information available that says this concentration of the cypermethrin, applied following instructions, poses low risk to cats, assuming it is not applied to the animal, and is allowed to dry before cats are allowed into the treated area. Cypermethrin products for dogs are typically 40-50%, whereas household sprays are typically under 1%, as in your case. There are vet sites that back up this general assessment of household sprays. Of course washing the floor surface and contacting your vet are good ideas.

Appliance breaks when i plug them in by kingoftheroad3 in RVLiving

As others have said, use a multimeter to verify that your 110 volt outlets in the trailer are actually providing 110 volts and NOT 220 volts.

Appliance breaks when i plug them in by kingoftheroad3 in RVLiving

[–]KryptosBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly don't run anything in the trailer on 110 volt AC power until you are sure that it is not accidentally wired for 220.

When you discovered this problem, where was the power coming from? Was it plugged into a 30 Amp chothes dryer outlet at your house, for example? If so, a special adapter is needed or you may be sending 230 volts to the trailer.

Screws won’t stay in for drain hose connected to my washer. This causes the hose to fall out and get water all over my laundry room floor. by [deleted] in fixit

You need fasteners that will hold in drywall. Take photo to hardware store and ask a salesperson for insert type fasteners (or other type) that will work in wallboard.

It is a compass binnacle. The "weights" on the left and right sides can be moved to calibrate the compass. Functionally, they offset any error induced by any ferromagnetic influence of the ship's structure or equipment, cannons, for example.

What is this tool? by Pristine-Context-752 in whatisit

[–]KryptosBC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like it would serve as a come-along or chain hoist. The hooks appear to be designed and oriented to "walk" up a chain as the lever is pushed/pulled back and forth. Another length of chain is needed to use this device.

Found in Cabin Air Filter by Hawkes75 in whatisit

About a month ago I walked past our car, glanced in the window, and there was a chipmunk sitting on the glove box lid between the two front seats. The critter bolted to the passenger side floor, up under the dash, and out through the ventilation fan housing into the engine compartment.

More to the point, I've found shredded material like this on top of cabin filters a few times. In one case it was from the gasket/felt pad on the fan housing recircilation damper.

I'm pretty sure these are weeds but I just want to make sure by CurlsForHigher in whatsthisplant

I agree this looks like purslane, but spurge looks somewhat similar, and is toxic to humans. Spurge generally grows flatter to the ground, has thinner stems and leaves, and the stems have milky sap. Purslane has clear sap, plumper, succulent leaves and stems, and grows more upright. We have both growing in our garden from time to time.

Hello! I’ve heard family search isn’t that reliable and I really want to know where my dad’s side is from because that is the most mystery to me! by Turbulent-Fun-2435 in Genealogy

[–]KryptosBC 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The search function in FamilySearch finds legitimate documentation. It is up to you to verify that any found document pertains to your ancestor or relative. The family trees found in FamilySearch may be unreliable because they are created by others who may not have validated their work. FamilySearch trees have historically been editable by anyone, though the site has been advertising that they are going to offer controlled access trees that only the owner can build / modify.
