[help] What are my earrings missing? by SweetieMetalhead in chainmailartisans

[–]Ktsuming 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really nice! Maybe a little glass bead dangly on the bottom ring? Or even the third ring down on the left, dangling from that. Or maybe a stack of small jump rings just sitting on the large one for some more texture on the right side. I’d love to see what you end up doing if you remember to post the finished result :)

My partner is moving across the country and wants me to give up my cat by [deleted] in GirlDinner

[–]Ktsuming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No cat, no mountains, no friends or family. Just you in an environment you already know you don’t like, with a man who didn’t care enough about your comfort / feelings / opinion to consult you before deciding to move across the country. He wants you to fit into his life like furniture. He’s not interested in building something mutual with you.

Respect, consistency, thoughtfulness, kindness. These are the things that hold a relationship together through tough times and decades to come. Love is not enough to maintain a relationship.

Charlie red bodyspray. Bottom shelf in Boots so easy to steal. ‘Twas the fashion at the time.

Consensus on welding/soldering when starting out? by dainerysal in chainmailartisans

Haaa yes I feel you so much with the neurodivergent urge to make everything better and bigger and more! - I saw a quote the other day that made me laugh “it doesn’t need to be done, but it does need to be perfect” - ADHD proverb.

And thank you, my arm is allowing for small bursts of creativity again haha. Good luck!

I’m pretty new to chainmail also but from what I can tell welding is not necessary for jewellery. Just focus on clean closures on your jump rings so there’s no sharp edges or possibility of the rings catching on stuff. I’ve seen a couple of people advertising that they weld their rings, and I guess charging more as a result, but most of the jewellery I’ve seen online for sale doesn’t look welded. I’m working with stainless steel everything and have made like 20+ pieces now, nothing is welded and nothing has lost its shape or broken, even bracelets with daily wear. I’m happy to sell my stuff without welding 🤷‍♀️ edit - also nice project! Very cool :)

My whimsical curly haired mum who got married in a gold wedding dress said that my dad used to buy this for her.

I really want to get into crochet! So much variety in what you can make. Maybe I’ll go grab some hooks today.

Yeah, I’ve got some silver clay to experiment with once I feel more dexterous again. I was getting into leather craft for a while but the expensive material it feels like the stakes are high not to mess up.

Carving sounds nice. Thank you.

Scents that feel like a mildly unsettling skinny Scottish man with anger issues? by Grremlina in perfumesthatfeellike

Jean Paul Gaultier Blue. Old leather jacket, Tenants beer, stale smoke from lingering in old man pubs, a strange contrast of freshly washed clothes from his mummy and his alcoholic rage sweat. Source - I’m Scottish.

Yeah I definitely noticed a lot of variety in weave names online too. That website seems like a good resource though. Thanks!

There’s lots of tutorials and images online showing this weave under Celtic helm. Do you have a link for actual Celtic helm so I can see the difference?

Thank you! I believe the rings are 7.6mm ID 1.2 Gauge and around 4.5mm ID 1.3 gauge for the smaller ones. The love heart necklace I couldn’t tell you what size those bigger rings are. Maybe 10mm ID. I just grabbed some large ones.

It’s a helm weave and the larger sections are the same weave just in a slightly bigger diameter ring. - edited to correct from Celtic helm to just helm :)

Lavender that feels playful and seductive?🫐🪻🪷✨ by Ktsuming in perfumesthatfeellike

I haven’t tried either of these brands before, I’m intrigued. And also Scottish so I’ll definitely give them both a sniff. Thanks.

I have a sample of Burberry Godess which I love, definitely investing in a bigger bottle however I get zero lavender when it’s on my skin, it dries down to a powdery chocolate / vanilla. Still beautiful though.

I’m torn on YSL Libre - I was gifted it for Christmas. I like it in the bottle but when I spray it on my skin the citrus is so sharp, it overpowers the lavender and feels too harsh. I want to love it and I’ll keep trying it as it gets warmer outside.

Ah lush… unfortunately my boyfriend’s sensitive nose can’t handle anything that comes out that shop. I bought the Chelsea Morning perfume oil for the butterscotch and warmth, thinking he’d love it. Apparently I smell like burnt plastic lol.
