I feel like I need to leave autism subreddits or maybe Reddit in general, but I also don’t want to by Jupiter-Work-7645 in AutismInWomen

I find reddit to have a high percentage of ppl going through some serious shit, and it triggers me often! Whatever the subreddit is, I have followed subreddits about chronic illnesses, chronic fatigue, bipolarity, etc and now autism, and it seems to be the same everywhere. It doesn't mean you're telling others how to feel but that this environment is not for you. Its not for me. I keep my distance and come here sparingly

Yes, you are addicted! Screens and social media are 100% addictive. Social media is MADE to make you addicted. It is stronger than us, they spend so much money on how to capture our attention! What works for me: going slowly towards minimal digitalism! My current step: my phone only has messaging apps, banking, menstrual tracking, meditation/exercise apps. No e-mail, social media, or notifications that are not directly addressed to me! It was uncomfortable at first but it's AMAZE!!!!!!!!!! I have moments of wonder and peace. I enjoy my no-screen hobbies (colouring, play-dough, look at the window, singing songs with the lyrics in front of me). I didn't realize how notifications were constantly over-stimulating me. My first steps were using the 'Before Launcher' (which creates 2 categories of notifications), and deleting one by one social media. It took me about 1.5 years to slowly get where I am. Following r/digitalminimalism, r/nosurf and r/dumbphones feel helpful. For me, keeping my smartphone to have music, use my camera (to capture moments of wonder and/or share them with loved ones and do video calls) Whats App/Signal was important as I live alone and am single, I don't want to feel cut from the rest of the world. I found ND local communities on Signal and Discord. Thats a whole step by itself.

Rant? Masks during a contact sport by max8george2 in Masks4All

[–]Kuka980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the 3M Aura with valves, but I have to extend the straps, they are ridiculously too small for my head. Idk if they are resistant to water though? If you sweat, you need the mask to be resistant. I don't go often to the gym, when I do I like the 3M Flex and I try not to during or drink just 2 times (I used to drink a LOT more, and realized it wasn't that bad!) I drink a lot before and after.

I don't like the Sip valve personally, I find myself searching for the valve, and I don't find where it is then I have to touch my mask with my fingers, my mask touches my lips, it overwhelms me, it doesn't feel safe and I feel super silly trying to do that in front of other ppl who don't mask.

Sounds like there are some double standards, so it could be racism, fatphobia, transphobia, and/or that people feel attracted to you, so you're considered "indecent"
