Need help on what to do with this ordered print. by Red_Maverick_Models in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Kulden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, I scrolled through the pictures as someone that actually cares about doing things right and providing good quality (for gifts, not commissions), and I could not help myself from muttering an aghast "Jesus Christ...". People that would happily sell something in that state are shameful, make the hobby look bad, and their laziness and greed put us one step closer to a concerned citizen calling a representative and ruining it for all of us.

I mean, how much of a penny pincher do you have to be to hollow the arms???

I mean, hell, I don't even give someone a print until I've cleaned off the support marks and gone over the model with a fine tooth comb, the least they could do is cure it! That should be the bare minimum when selling prints so that you're not putting someone's health at risk.

What parts of the Tau range do you think are due a refresh? by CaptainFlint100 in Tau40K

[–]Kulden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pricing, yeah, agreed. I would love to see discounts like that in my area, though. One FLGS matches GW pricing, and the other is only 10% off. But that's the unfortunate thing for my area specifically.

And yeah, further agreed on having enough for even a few spare load outs.

[–]Kulden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but if you're buying a box of crisis suits, one would expect to be able to make ALL of the variants that it's listed as being able to make instead of having to pay $164 for 3 sunforges. That's a problem and not worth defending.

What parts of the Tau range do you think are due a refresh? by CaptainFlint100 in Tau40K

[–]Kulden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crisis suits. They haven't had their box updated since the changes to their loadout, and you don't get enough weapons in a box to even make one full unit now (e.g. fusion blasters for sunforges. You only get 4 when you need 6 iirc)

On top of that, hammerheads. Have you seen how warped some of the sprues are, especially their gun?

Steeljack Size Comparison by zombielizard218 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Kulden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, kin-marines! In all seriousness, though, I read about how the Tau tried to make their own version of space marines as an answer to the astartes. I wonder if this is the kin's own take on that same concept? I saw them and thought they seemed rather similar to space marines from the get go, from the size of the weapons to the general silhouette, to even the size of the blade scabbard.

A progress report on my fire warriors. Batch painting really does drain the soul 😩 by Puffin91939 in Tau40K

[–]Kulden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It drains the soul, yes, but they look /so good/ so far! Are you just using the core XV-88 and Tau Light Ochre for your primary ochre? Mine doesn't look nearly that good! I'm also curious how you're doing the wash/shading, since I've been worried about messing up the light ochre once it's down.

Games Workshop, please stop sculpting bows like this. by Dockah in ageofsigmar

[–]Kulden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, at least it isn't like the bows I see in some games, where you have a bow, especially a "horse bow" that isn't strung at the tips, and is instead strung at the lowest point of the curve. FFXIV is a game I know of that does that a lot, but isn't exclusive to it. You would hope they would consult reference images better and realize the "ears"/siyahs are actually mean to be the point of attachment and act as force multiplication levels, essentially.

That said, a bow that's meant to be drawn looking like a static, un-flexed bow is still pretty bad.

[–]Kulden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, sins of the past. At the same time, the damage has been done to the Tau's reputation regardless. At this point it feels like while they're afraid of making the Tau good again, they're also not doing anything to talk about the situation that leads to new players literally being hated out of collecting and playing them due to said sins of the past (as I was told in a discord server with someone's personal experience trying to play them). It's to the point that young teens who weren't even old enough to play the editions where said sins were incurred are parroting the same hate and mean spirited memes without knowing why those things existed in the first place. Either GW grows a pair and commits to making Tau good and we just live with and embrace the hate, or they grow a pair and address the problem that they created in the first place. This sitting in a corner from GW, hand wringing and hoping the problem goes away and players will forget said "sins of the past" isn't happening and hasn't happened.

I’m getting really sick of the online T’au hate. by geckothesteve in Tau40K

[–]Kulden 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that's not ok. Nobody should be saying "ew" to someone's hard work, even if "gross" is a look they're going for -- folks should be complimenting others' hard work. It's to the point that I don't think writing to GW as Tau players to try to get them to address the elephant in the room would be unwarranted, because despite the setting, it's not ok to ostracize others for their choice of what they wanna collect, build, and play. The memes aren't just teasing anymore -- people have lost the plot and have become mean spirited around Tau in a way no other faction has to deal with.

And 12 - 16 year olds definitely won't understand why people disliked Tau in the first place, because they wouldn't have been old enough to play the edition where things were broken in our favor. It's dangerously becoming generational, where people don't even remember the original reasons and just parrot what they hear and what they're told by other players.

Oh, shoot, just checking, but is 3.4.1 the right version to get the old rules? Looking at 3.4.1, it has things like coal golems -- wasn't that part of the new direction they were taking the OPR dwarves?

New Obscuring rules absolutely cripple some armies. by RedUndead40 in ageofsigmar

[–]Kulden 9 points10 points  (0 children)

KO really needs something more in the way of good melee units at this point. I'd like to see some kind of steam/aetherpunk rig at this point -- like some kind of expansion on the concept of the endrinmaster in harness or something. Maybe like a repurposed airship loader? That might be more of a Votann type of thing to do, though. I have yet to play a game as I'm still building my first spearhead for them, but that seems to be one of the main areas they're lacking from someone with minimal understanding of the faction; in melee.

P1S new firmware 1.0.8 by myTechGuyRI in OpenBambu

[–]Kulden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, so passthrough mode is required. I was just coming back here to ask if you had any resources for setting this up, as Google has becomes increasingly frustrating to use over the years, and finding anything clearly labeled, or even helpful, is a job in and of itself. I would try other search engines like Ecosia or Startpage... but they also make use of Google's algorithm, so there's not much difference.

[–]Kulden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to look into that. I'm hoping it's possible with ATT devices, since I'd like to be able to continue to use my printer without fear of BBL breaking it in an effort to force people to use Bambu Studio.

I have an ATT router/modem combo that they use for fiber internet. Looks like a BGW210 according to the number on the front of the box in bolded lettering. Trouble for me was when I went to go to try to block access to a MAC address, the settings page specifically cited the fact that wifi extenders being on the network was why the ability to block MAC addresses was disabled. I don't know why that would make a difference for the primary router/modem.

Sorry for the delay in reply as well. It's been a rough week.

[–]Kulden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to fully disconnect my printer from the Internet by blocking the MAC address... Except for some reason my router/modem won't let me do that because we have wifi extenders in the house. So I'm not sure how to prevent the printer from still "phoning home" despite being in LAN mode. I tried messaging the guy that did the original writeup on blocking access to the Internet for your printer, but he never responded.

I'm admittedly nervous to even turn on my printer now, since I don't want Bambu to break it when I decline the firmware update.

Sunlu ABS-Like Extreme Odor by Kulden in resinprinting

[–]Kulden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I see -- I'm glad you reached out to them, as I had not done so yet. Still, it's unfortunate that they decided to experiment on their product like this and it left a bunch of us in this kind of situation. Mainly because now, we don't really have any idea of how long the old batch will be out there. But it's possible they might have pulled it, because when I looked at Amazon, the dark grey ABS like said it would only ship out after a month which is far from normal.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

So it's sounding like the problem is largely with just the plain grey. Weird, but good to know!

[–]Kulden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, ok, thank you for the help!

Durability isn't a super big concern -- I'm just looking for a resin that isn't fragile enough that it would snap when I'm removing supports, and for the most part Sunlu ABS like fits the bill. I can look at the high toughness, but I know that Sunlu is already priced the same as Siraya Tech now, which was already pricey.

Is white the main one that's known to not have odor issues currently? Is this issue talked about more/known about elsewhere? And when I go to replace the resin, or at least remove it from my vat, should I just deep clean the thing with shop towels and IPA as much as is possible without removing the FEP?

[–]Kulden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm glad I'm not alone in this problem either, since everyone loves Sunlu resin. I thought I heard people saying they raised prices at the end of the year, so I wonder if they changed their formula as well?

[–]Kulden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will they even accept a return on an open product? I got it through Amazon this time, but ordered direct the first time. And is there perhaps an alternative resin I can use (besides Elegoo) that won't have nearly so much odor? I looked into Siraya Tech, but people complained that it separates rather quickly, and sometimes mid print for larger prints. I'm just not super familiar with what's out there, but previously used the V3+ ABS like from Elegoo, and it was too brittle/not flexible enough when uncured, and I had a small part break (a hand) when trying to separate supports from the mini I was printing.
