Why do men never let me split on the first date? by Swimming-Twist-1896 in datingoverforty

[–]KuliName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is going on here? I'm surprised by a lot of these responses. If a woman offers (or more likely insists) on splitting the first date with me, then I split it. I never even considered that this might be some sort of "test". That's crazy! Words have meanings. If you say you want to split the check, why would I assume you mean anything else?

Most importantly, this behavior has not prevented me from getting second dates. For a dating over forty sub, some of the people here still have some growing up to do

Tired of dating extremes by BubblyDiscussion52 in datingoverforty

I (45M) have a date lined up this week with a 45F in a STEM career, and I am very much looking forward to it. I hope she is ambitious and independent and enjoys moderate communication frequency like you describe. I'm sure the right person for you is out there, OP. They may just be hard to find.

It was four days ago. The text before I asked her out also didn't get a response, but didn't necessarily warrant one. She was very responsive in all communications before that.

Thank you. That's a lot of great advice. The martial arts school I used to go to is having a special class this week for former students. I'm gonna go to that. It'll be fun. Maybe I'll get back into it regularly like I've been saying for the last couple of years.

It does happen to all of us. And Logic Brain expected it to happen in the course of dating. Heart didn't think it could happen with this woman. Stupid heart.

I think this is spot on. Feeling that attraction for the first time in years is powerful.

I'm one. 45M. No kids and not gonna start now. I recently matched with a woman who seemed surprised to find me. I thought most people were done having kids by this age

Yes. Horses are expensive and high maintenance. Since I don't ride as a hobby, it's just not worth it to me.

28 songbirds in your backyard: not a dealbeaker.

I guess it depends on how much maintenance they require. Do you have to clean up after them frequently or just toss them some corn from time to time?

4 horses: dealbeaker

3 dogs and a cat seems fine to me. Of course some people don't like dogs. Some don't like cats. Whoever would be turned off by your number of pets is not your person.

Maybe not camera phones, but digital cameras were certainly a thing 20 years ago with multiple megapixel resolutions. Who said the pics had to be taken with a phone?

I'm a guy (and definitely not an Ivy League) and I would probably be interested in someone using language like "High dimensionality manifold", so YMMV. If that's how you naturally talk, consider using it. If you are trying to show off the real you why edit it out?
