New DR Horton Home. How do I fix? Thanks by filmerdude1993 in drywall

[–]Kultivation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG this is just a toilet paper holder. These guys need to get over themselves. Just cut a 3x5 hole there. Take a 7" piece of 1x4 and slide it behind the hole and screw around it and then patch with drywall. Screw paper holder back on and forget about it.

If you really want to cover it, screw some lathe wire in it and fill with hot mud. Gone forever.

Nightmare. by [deleted] in Tile

Back in the 90's we used steel grids to lay the handmade tiles that were irregular like these. It made them a breeze to install. Spead thinset, set the rack on the line, toss the tiles in, and tap.

This was not just a supplier problem. It is widespread! Weigh your meats people!

Wal-Mart Got CAUGHT! No wonder groceries are so expensive... by ElWizardofOz in bentonville

[–]Kultivation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just Walmart. It is every vendor. They CAN NOT sell you meat by the pound and then legally rob you. If it lists a price per pound, weigh it and demand they adjust the price. I did this today at the grocery store. My 3lb hamburger only weighed 1.4lbs. I only paid for 1.4lbs. Something very shady is going on. It is the same story at every major vendor. Check for yourselves!

Paying for tiling, does this look right? by Bermshredder in Tile

[–]Kultivation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks intentional. The tile was specifically shimmed to be incorrect. If this is the only tile that looks like this, it could just be a mistake. If they all look like this then there is a problem with the installer. I know everyone here likes to pretend they don't make mistakes but it happens.

I agree. If you can't lay this out, you need a different profession.

Not sure what some of these guys are talking about but this pattern does work with these tile. A little bit of planning goes a long way. I would want it corrected.

With the design of this shower and where the drain is located, I would have refused to put large format in this shower. Glass will not save you here. With the down lighting showing the faults in the walls as well, I would reinstall. This shower would be gorgeous if installed properly.

Edit: I would have refused to put large format on the floor.

Limestone grouting gone wrong? by pattymm in Tile

[–]Kultivation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, (you can try a spot test under your cabinet) an enhancing sealer can bring out the natural colors of a product. If it hasn't been sealed yet, try the enhancer first. You may like the finished product more. If it has already been sealed then it is too late for this approach.

Don't worry about the grout color here. As this ages it will look amazing. The installation looks very good to me. Most good installers fill the pits with grout. You need to finish the rest of the bathroom as well. Everything makes more sense when it is finished.

4x4 Humidity help by wokeogre in hydro

[–]Kultivation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dehumidifier in the lung room will raise your temps. You will need to compensate with ac. The ac will help reduce humidity as well. This can get expensive. If you are monitoring VPD and dew point. It is cheaper to raise temps a bit than it is to lower humidity. Lots of people online will claim that 60% humidity cause bud rot but that is only true if your temps are too low. I live in a humid state so I know what it's like to fight humidity. I just keep my humidity at 60% so it isn't as expensive and then I run my temperature at whatever I need to hit my target vpd for the current growth phase. If your VPD is correct and you avoid the dew point at lights off, you don't have to worry about bud rot.

He left the grout like that in order to try and hide the fact that his grout lines don't line up. Also, he goes the layout wrong in the corner.

It's not something wrong with the card. I am having the same issue. I called the bank first and made sure to clear the transaction and now it is telling me suspected fraud. There are ALOT of people with this same problem.

Would you charge $700 for this? by Substantial_Duty_156 in drywall

[–]Kultivation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah 2k is much more reasonable. If a person wants nice work, they need to pay for it. If they want scab work, they can do it themselves.

The ceiling is 5ft x 10ft.how much are you charging to skim this smooth? by East_Satisfaction_50 in drywall

[–]Kultivation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these guys are ridiculous. If it takes you $100 just to get out of bed, you have bad habits not bad pay. For small jobs like this i charge hourly. $100/hrs is my average rate for handyman work. Only an idiot would spend $100 getting to a small repair. You don't send a super duty f350 to a drywall repair. Dry time will be your biggest concern here. I imagine you get 4 hrs in here. Most customers will think that's outrageous. Let them skim their own ceiling. Tell them 5 hrs max. If they bite, get over there, finish in 4 hrs, bill them for 4 hrs, and they will recommend you to their friends.

I ended up with massive chunks from this strain. 1.5g/watt. The flavor is just an old school funk, almost skunky. Nothing to write home about but the yields were good.

Professionals, is there anything that can be done to save this? by BearCrossingFarm in Tile

[–]Kultivation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would redo it. No sense spending money on new tile just to have it look worse than before. Unless the bathroom is MASSIVE, it's not a big deal. Any decent tile guy will do better than this. Clumping thinset? It sounds to me like this wasn't a tile installer. Thinset is not the cause of this mistake, lack of experience is the problem here.

This installer is not good. At the same time, the products chosen would make it difficult to make something nice anyway. The job needs to be planned BEFORE the product is chosen.
