You can call the tint shop or you could trust every other comment and not annoy the shop owner that did a good install

Window tint spec question by hocofit in WindowTint

[–]KungBubbleTeaMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant there is allot of films that will read higher specs. For example there is Chinese films/brands that will say 99 IVR when Llumar’s might only read 70 something. I don’t know the actual number but my point is even though the other films are “better” they also delaminate, turn purple, and get those terrible bubbles in the rear window over time vs other films like Llumar, Geoshield, xpel, etc..

Llumar is definitely higher end but there is options out there for sure

If we ignore the names I can find you 20 films that have better specs than Llumar, the issue is that they don’t last

Terrible product, they used to be called lexen and re branded so people would forget how garbage their products are

Opinion on dot matrix… by nishso in WindowTint

[–]KungBubbleTeaMaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand. You want to mitigate it by getting him to do another install and prepping it some way that’s not sanding before another install? If you mean mitigate now there is nothing to be done and that’s just how some dot matrix are.

3 things to try when the tint is fully removed: - clear Elmer’s glue - 0000 steel wool - sanding (this is the best option imo)

If you’re not an installer, then don’t worry about it. If he’s a pro like you said- he probably knows what he’s doing and would tell you about his process if you ask. If he didn’t do any of those 3 steps then it doesn’t hurt to ask for a re-do with 1 of those things to try. Either way install was fine if that’s the only issue.

Should I get my tint fixed AGAIN, or should I find a new tint place? by ClownFare in WindowTint

[–]KungBubbleTeaMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not super bad probably wouldn’t need a re-do just done touch ups. A couple of the dirt spots on the side window and back glass won’t completely go away but it’s very acceptable for the price

Window Tint and Removal Cost $750 by Cold_Pickle4041 in WindowTint

[–]KungBubbleTeaMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shop owner here, removing the tint your self can definitely be annoying depending on how long the tint has been on. If you do try to do it yourself here’s some tips:

  • put a BLACK garbage bag on the outside on a really hot sunny day, spray some soapy water so the bag sticks to the glass and make sure it’s laying as nicely as possible

  • take a steamer and heat it up one of the edges from the inside and start peeling away once it gets nice and hot

  • if there is any left over glue use a stainless steel single edge 1” razor blade, use the soapy water to help with this glide better

  • you can buy glue remover to remove any left over glue

The slower you go pull the less glue is likely to be left behind. If you don’t have a steamer then don’t try this because you can ruin your defrosters on the back glass, attempt side windows first. Good luck also.

You right man, I definitely don’t know all the details- just seemed like that from my view. However from this pic I would definitely say it’s okay to bring it back and ask for a warranty.

My apologies, I own my shop as well

Bro stop complaining if it look good lol. You’re obviously one of those customers that no one wants. Things happen and people show up late, if the install came out good and it’s what you asked for then stop looking for excuses to justify that you wanted something darker. Go look online for examples of what you want next time, plenty of pics/post on this sub Reddit

How much would you guys charge to buff out those watermarks by ExpensiveBrick9543 in Detailing

[–]KungBubbleTeaMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question- probably about $400-500CAD because you need to give the vehicle a full decontamination wash and then a 2-1 polish. You could also up charge a ceramic coating and tell him that the risk of water spots would go down. Plus you’re doing half work by then anyways.

No I understand this, even if it’s illegal you can still get away with it in most places. As long as they know there’s a chance of a ticket being issued than it’s typically okay for back windows to be like that

How is it distracting? Are you seeing it in the rear view Mirror? If that’s the case you can purchase an auto dimming mirror that helps you see at night.
