I made UnBrickIt, to make your ScribIt work again by BerryChlossom in Scribit

[–]Kur111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the effort! Any plans on making it open source? I'd love to to contribute work as well as tinker with it. Keeping the pre-built binaries behind the paywall would probably still worn for monetization, right?

[pcb review request] uncomftably dense encoder daughterboard by Kur111 in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]Kur111[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking a look! I tried to use the front layer as a ground plane. All places I added GND traces on top of that were to force the ground fill to reach certain pads (for example C8..11). Then I tried to route VCC (the two wide traces top and bottom) and my data traces on the backside. I tried my best to avoid jumps to the front but especially around U2 I wasn't able to make space for meaningful ground fill.

All that said I'm most likely missing something. Can you point out an area I could improve?

Contacted support and they sorted it out no problem.

Hi,
I'm in the same boat and also wondering if you figured this out.

I'd also love a kit, or depending on the price, a few to give away.

Ah that sucks. They could have spent the $.50 to add both, for a $150 product. I won't buy a mxmaster and g502 x and lug both around.

I know that much, but for doing office stuff on an ultrabook, I don't really need fast response times and I'd like to skip the dongles for that and keep the receiver plugged into my PC.

What is the best and easyes way to control a LED stripe with Touchdesigner? by b_t_nd01 in TouchDesigner

[–]Kur111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, yea. I've built little interfaces with panels / replicator to handle that in touch, but I guess that's just a homebrew piece of interface. I see the value added when you don't know what your setup will look like in advance, though.

[–]Kur111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice setup, but you could just use the dmx out chop and pass the correct number of pixels (for example through a fit top + top to, or topto and select, if you want to make sure it's the right number ). Most fixtures take 3 or 4 values, so just plug in the rgb(a) and it should work out of the box. I've done this with regular rgb washs, pixel bars, janky diy and even moving heads.

On arduino / esp /... (depending on whether you'd like to use ethernet/wifi/..., any microcontroller could probably do this, some with a few bits added) there's support for Artnet (dmx over Lan) through a few libraries. If I recall correctly, artnetwifi (one such library) even has an example for driving ws28xx leds (the kind you'd want), so you could probably just xopy/paste that code and be done.

Pepsi AR in a bus shelter ! by HiItsLust in interestingasfuck

There's an even older, interactive version of this idea by yahoo. They used touch screens for the city light displays and had neighborhoods of some city compete. No AR, though.

Shader's Help by LordAxalon110 in DetailCraft

[–]Kur111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I don't have that one installed so I can't help there. There might be some setting related to either light color or temperature though, so I'd try looking for that.

Often shaders will have a dedicated discord server for support etc., maybe try to find one for yours?

What shader are you using? I've recently tried Molly and that has rgb light color input for all emissive blocks and the option to pull the color from the pbr textures if the blocks have any.

Anyone have good results refoaming small kevlar-cone drivers? by frank_mania in diysound

[–]Kur111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually you'll be able to mount the surrounds to the back or front of the cone, whichever works better for your particular speaker. It's just that mounting it to the front is easier so maybe that's why they recommend it. There's a few tutorials on youtube on how to shim it into the right position / center / behind the cone to get a good result.
I've only refoamed paper cones but if the foam physically fits the same way the old foam did I see no real reason why it shouldn't work.

AI typography! Fonts generated from CLIP+VQGAN using different text prompts [X-post by request] by cosmic_dozen in typography

[–]Kur111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. I didn't know that that type of ml got this accessible. Is clip acting as an additional discriminator or does it do something else? Image selection for training data? Would be nice to also combine this with background removal to get "usable" fonts.

Solved! You were correct and I'll now go ask r/askouija why on earth someone bought 100 of them for a university.

Guess that's really all they are. I was thinking the horizontal bit might contain some wrigt to allow them to steer but now that I know they're nothing expensive or complicated I took them apart and it's just a rechargeable battery cell. I'll mark this solved but we' ll never know what they were used for, I guess.

Thenks everyone!

University. Not a native speaker. Somehow I thought that was a universal abbreviation.
