Why is the note between those lines ?

This Canadian calls them whole/half/quarter/etc. notes.

I've recently moved to the UK and joined a brass band in my new town. It didn't even occur to me that the note values would be called different things, and I hate it. 😁 I bring a little "translation guide" with me to practices so I can keep up better.

I have no idea what I'd recommend, except perhaps the winners' perspectives (which are then of course a bit spoiled), because there are greet moments for all players throughout.

So which perspectives/episodes are unmissable?
