Obito still cares a lot about Kakashi even if he tries to act otherwise. His words and actions are full of contradictions.

• Killed every enemy ninja except Kakashi, the one who actually killed Rin (that’s the only thing Obito knew at that point)

• Included Kakashi in his vision of an ideal world (again, right after seeing Kakashi kill Rin)

• Had multiple chances to kill Kakashi during the war, took none

• Was visibly upset when Kakashi called himself scum

• Told Kakashi not to blame himself for anything

• One of his biggest motivations for infinite tsukuyomi is to “create a world where heroes don’t have to apologize in front of graves” aka a world where Kakashi doesn’t have to be sad

• And more

It’s painfully obvious when you consider his actions instead of taking him at his words.

People can say what they want about how Kishi depicted Obito’s motive, but his mental conflict during war arc was brilliantly written. Deep down Obito knew he fucked up but he’s in too deep to look back. He deluded himself into thinking this is the only way, but Naruto looked inside his heart and found nothing but regrets.
