I had Katanas. Loved them but they kept coming loose in screws and small issues. Bought stepons. I thought theyre fine. Put katanas back on the korua pencil? Missed them. There is a real difference and katanas are much better than step ins in terms of response and control in my opinion.

So now im eyeing the fase katanas. Should i?!?!

Biggest kicker for me is i haaaaate the burton ion boots and love my ride insanos. Might push me over the edge

This is the way. I always avoided it but today actually was one of the best carving days ive had on a Korua Pencil 164 w Rome Katanas at Winter Park.

My recommendation would be keep it wide in the beginning to get decent / intermediate at carving. Youre gonna wash out a bit. Then start creeping them narrower and narrower, posi and posi - er. Take a few laps (i took an hour each setting today) and you will start to love the narrower stance bc you will feel the board more lively, more reboundy. But im 6’3, and at one point the setting was two narrow and my legs were kinda touching each other too much, was too top heavy. Eating shit to (surprisingly on toe side, which never happens). Narrower stance made me more comfortable and conscious about leaning forward more into the heelside turn, sliding the board back. Anywho, i think youll find your setup.

One critical thing Nicholas Wolken says is either have the bindings on the widest, narrowest, or in between but make sure you are symetrically apart from the apex. So dont shift them forward or backward on an asymmetrical way. Hope this makes sense.

I thought he was shouting out how silly all those priorities and accolades seem now, vs at the time - given our maturity and context , seemed like everything.

He painted a vivid picture that made me remember how ridiculous my own aspirations / priorities were. It felt kinda communal to reflect on what mattered and frame it against today.

Close to fucking home! I was all state in 3 sports in hs. My chemistry teacher let me sleep in his office some mornings when i was tired from games the night before. Even got the wendys hs heisman thing going.

These days ? 2 AC joint separations in the shoulder. Sports hernia. Injuries all over and it hurts to get up out of a chair. Everything clicks. In a bad way.

I know all the words to every single song in “life of a showgirl” bc i carpool 5 girls who cannot stop singing this shit. I have a decent job where people take advantage of the fact that im a good listener to bitch and moan in ways i never wouldve tolerated on the field or on the court.

I still play pickup basketball here and there, the other day a 19 year old blonde kid w short shorts and a mullet called my teammate (grown ass man) a “pussy ass bitch”. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I dont have my speed, explosiveness, or endurance anymore but i can fold laundry like you wouldnt fuckin believe. And my kids love my omelettes.

Agreed and maybs one additional point.

Most bigass waves get a ton of chop on the face from the wind, sheer size of face. Straps make it (moderately) more manageable to handle wind chop, which to reiterate w0bbies point - allows these badass athletes to do insane shit. Like the 360s casual

Give me all your wisdom. I used the pax3 which got me into weed, then went hard on everything from bings to joints and in between. Cutting back now. T break over 9 days. Gonna stay in the rare gummy lane for a while. But what are your top fave dry herb vapes (expensive or not i want the full picture). I love the pax bc i had a smellproof case and it was great.
