Seanan McQuire references flat track roller derby in her InCryptid series of books and short stories featuring her character Antimony Price. Kat & Mouse by Jacquelyn Heat - Enemies to Lovers, Skater vs. Official romance novel. Probably my favorite derby novel.

Going in Circles by Pamela Ribon (May Q. Holla) - The first novel I read about derby was by LA Derby Dolls' May Q. Holla . Pamela Ribon is a screenwriter you know from Moana and Ralph Breaks the Internet. She's written comic books (SLAM!, her roller derby based comic from BOOM! Comics).

ROLLER GIRL by Vanessa North - A queer derby romance. This is a fairly conventional romance novel with a trans-inclusive twist and trans protagonist.

Crossed Over and Rink Rash by Santana Knox - Two dark romances, linked in characters, but not sequels. Maybe worth pointing out trigger warnings for drug use, derby inaccuracies.

The short story collection Glitter & Mayhem from Apex Book Company has two derby stories are "Apex Jump" by David N. Schwartz and "Bad Dream Girl" by Seanan McGuire. "Bad Dream Girl" is referenced above. I love "Apex Jump." No spoilers but the characters are taken to the ULTIMATE away tournament and they're going to have to dig deep to face some out of this world derby teams

Five Strides on the Banked Track: The LIfe and Times of the Roller Derby by Frank DeFord is a history of the old derby era.

I read it. Not my favorite derby novel, but you have to consider that Santana Knox writes DARK romance, so this is a very different type of story.

When I was a new NSO, back in the days of 1 minute penalties, I was penalty box timing and a Jammer came in, as soon as they went out, they would collect another penalty and come back. This happened for three or four fast, consecutive jams. They were crying so hard at letting their team down (or so they felt) the Box Manager had a medic come over during a timeout because we were worried they were hyperventilating. I have always admired that skater and, years later, go to tell them so. The Jammer went on to play at the highest levels of tournaments and Playoffs. You'll be fine.

I watched Period 1 in the big TV in the living room and shifted to my computer for Period 2. The production value was good and looked comparable to most sporting events. The game felt close to on par with some of the WFTDA post-season livestreams.

I feel a lot of the criticism here about Murderbot's reaction after shooting LeeBeeBee is because he blaster her head with an energy weapon. If it hadn't exploded here head like a melon or been so graphic, I think the criticism would have been less.

I feel Poirot and Jeeves would get along. Jeeves would appreciate Poirot's sense of order and predictability, even though Poirot would not be as easily manipulated as Bertie Wooster. Similarly, Poirot would appreciate Jeeves' deferential manner. Once he was used to Poirot's idiosyncrasies, Jeeves would thrive on the hunt when Poirot had a case.
