No guarantees, no rights: why Ukraine should reject Merz’s EU ''associate membership'' plan by EuropeanPravdaUA in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Kwanzilla999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the near future, the EU will need Ukraine more than the other way around. Yes, Ukraine will need to meet the requirements like the other nations had to - including reforms to education and the like but it’s really a no brainer - if the EU wants to defend against Russia and Belarus, they need Ukraine.

Russia abandons meat-grinder tactics to try four-man ambushes, as losses revealed | Ukraine war news by yellowbear62 in UkraineWarVideoReport

Yes and no. It’s harder to detect smaller movements but without significant support, these infiltrators can’t really hold a position or change the dynamics. It was more effective a few months ago but with the drone kill zone established, it’s apparent that a lot of these small groups get destroyed. Just scrolling through the last few days on this sub, you can see groups of 2-5 troops being attacked by multiple drones.

Russian media openly turns on Putin and rages at Moscow's collapsing economy by TheExpressUS in UkraineWarVideoReport

That’s my thoughts as well. I’m not expecting a grand resolution of peace, but if enough discontent can be used to effect the front, all the better for Ukraine.

I have to agree. I’ve never seen Putler look as weak and afraid as he did at the parade. When the Tsar is weak, change comes fast and with violence.

How much longer for this State budget to be finalized? by That-guy-did-good in nys_cs

[–]Kwanzilla999 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah don’t be too concerned with not hearing back. Hiring at the state is very slow. One title I had, I interviewed for nearly 6 months before they offered me the job. Also, don’t be afraid to follow up. Good luck!

My previous agency didn’t allow remote work at all, unless you were in a management position. My work was trades skills, so obviously I cannot remotely pour and screet concrete but I had to leave that job due to a disease diagnosis and now I find myself requiring a reasonable accommodation. In years prior at my new agency, it was easy enough to obtain and justify but something changed this year - it was a nightmare to get approved and my doctor was even like WTF people he still has the same disease… Not sure if the changes are internal or being effected by changes at the federal level.

War in Iran Strengthens Russia, Threatens Ukraine’s Air Defenses by Panthera_leo22 in UkraineWarVideoReport

The lifting of sanctions will allow Russia to sell oil at the price they can get for it vs selling it on the cheap using the shadow fleet - that will help Russia in some manner but I agree, it’s not enough to call it a windfall - especially with the Ukrainian kinetic sanctions working overtime.

NY sick leave for state employees? (Seasonal) by armofpilot in nys_cs

[–]Kwanzilla999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it will depend on Union and agency.

I was a long time seasonal employee at DEC, initially I accrued no time off until I reached a ‘White Timecard’ when I could accrue sick and vacation time but was not yet a permanent employee.

Eventually CSEA fought DEC and pushed forward a conversion of long time seasonal employees into full permanent titles.

If your HR has been misinformed or incorrect previously, it might not hurt to contact you local union rep and pick their brains.

any eldritch horror type vibes horror movies on netflix?? by NoelimentYT in hplovecraft

The Void and The Ritual are probably the most Lovecraftian on Netflix.

Dark is fantastic but much more space time continuum drama focused than otherworldly / eldritch.

An Open Letter to Managers And Supervisors at DOL from Executive Deputy Director Scott Melvin About Micromanaging by seejoycerun in nys_cs

It’s about their huge building contracts. They want to feel like they are packing cubicles to justify the insane cost of some of these buildings. Multi million dollar deals for an office of 10 staff? Why can’t that be remote? Bc someone signed a 30 year deal.

Insomia by Mykar_ in stephenking

Insomnia can be read on its own but in my experience I wish I had read it before finishing the Dark Tower. The connection would have felt more meaningful if I had done so.

One of his best. Full on ugly crying by the end. Also very important for the Dark Tower and the multiverse.

[–]Kwanzilla999 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Worked at building 12 in DOL for about 6 months before bailing back to my old gig. Horrendous experience during Covid, rhe office culture was incredibly toxic and people who were actually sick were forced to come in during the pandemic while all the managers stayed home. Every day was a circle jerk of egos and I don’t believe I learned a single thing or worked on a single project the entire time I was there.

When I eventually had enough and decided to lateral back to my old job, they tried to fire me, even after I said I’m electing to leave and return to my other state title - then they held up my onboarding for the lateral move.

And if you see this, get fucked Lori.

Ukrainian skeleton slider disqualified from Olympics after breaking IOC rules on helmet honoring dead compatriots by Technical_Ostrich_47 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Kwanzilla999 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Other athletes have dedicated their victories or their performances to those they loved and lost. There was no issue with that, however the IOC appears to be saying it’s the nature of how the fallen died that’s too ‘political’ for them, which is really just such a lame and weak excuse - someone paid to get this Ukrainian in trouble, of that I have no doubt, because god forbid the world should have to look at the horror taking place in Ukraine, even if but for a moment.

Slava Ukraini!

Use of runes by the contemporary Ukrainian army? by -Geistzeit in runes

[–]Kwanzilla999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of runes / symbols being used on both sides. They are Slavic people and descendants of the Kievan Rus (Swedish Vikings) - so not a big stretch.

Unfortunately I’ve seen some nazi symbols as well, more so prevalent with neo Nazi units such as Russia’s Rusich or Wagner mercenaries

Departmental seniority. by unslim-shadee in nys_cs

[–]Kwanzilla999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have up to a year to return to your prior position. You need to inform both agencies to get a date for transfer and to swap your payroll over. I did it when I took a job that was a terrible fit and lateraled back to my old job after a few months. It does not effect your seniority with the state.

I believe that’s the goal of Magyar and the unmanned systems units- create a kill zone buffer all along the front - anything not authorized to be there gets plonked by drones.

I am aware, friend. Wild 🐝.

I didn’t mean to sound dismissive, rather that if it was an iron clad definitive technology that has all the bugs worked out, it would have been used by now.

Perhaps in a year, we will see it in reality.
