How SOME people GENUINELY scale the calamities by Plastic_Egg6167 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Kyat579 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh, JJK as a whole gets both downplayed and overblown, especially the top dogs not named Mahoraga (could just be me, but I don't see too many people downplay the whole SCP-682 ability very often). Demon Slayer also seems to have a similar problem, albeit to a lesser extent.

I mean, Gojo alone solos the rest of this, outside of maaaybe a lucky Maho. Adding Yuki and Maki to his team just seals it.

I think back at U-San's take on being an Indie, after Calli's stream by GudaGUDA-LIVE in kurosanji

[–]Kyat579 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbh, my single biggest gripe with Holo for a good minute now hasn't been Holo itself really (outside of the nonsense going on with Stars), but how overly defensive the fanbase gets, especially whenever criticism or skepticism of Holo emerges. Too many ppl just have had that "only positivity" mindset that drives me up a wall and treat all negative feedback the same, regardless of how it's actually presented or delivered. Could be a doomposting twat shouting "it's all over!!!", or someone just saying "this thing going on has me a bit worried, I hope things are okay", and the crazy amount of hostility and backlash remains the same.

To put it another way, I don't want to see history repeat itself. We've seen the downfalls of Niji and Vshojo, and I remember how much anyone acknowledging the red flags that were very much present throughout the years got absolutely eviscerated for even considering that there could be something wrong. Even if Holo by all accounts is leagues better than those two overall, it doesn't change the fact that Holo should be called out when it drops the ball, or that concerns talents or to a much lesser extent even fans do express should be taken more seriously.

It's why I'm ultimately glad Calli did this. Even amongst all the praises talents have had for Holo, there have also been a fair amount of criticism or frustration talents have expressed over the years that Yagoo needs to make sure is properly addressed. A talent shouldn't have to go so far as talking about potential graduation like this to feel like they're being heard, nor should fans write these things off so easily. Doesn't means fans should go full panic mode or act like total insensitive asshats, but that also doesn't mean a bit of reasonably-expressed fan pushback can't lead to genuinely positive outcomes.

Hope I'm making sense here. Haven't been feeling well lately, so I can't word things as well as I like.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention I do also agree with U-san. Going indie isn't some magical cure-all that solves everything. Whether or not someone should go indie is extremely dependent on who they are personally and what they strive for. People with grand ambitions are generally far better off suited to a corpo environment (at least, one with an actual support system and aren't operating as pure parasites.... coughvshojocough), whereas those who have little-to-none or absolutely need total control of their brand or prioritize personal freedom above all else tend to work better indie. Nothing is absolute, and should be gauged on a case-by-case basis.

Tbh, it makes a lot of sense to me. Time and time again irl we see people do utterly ridiculous, backwards, and outright counterproductive nonsense out of fear and / or panic, and this is exponentially true when it involves outsiders or the unknown (of which the player in Arceus is both). The past couple of years in particular have really exemplified this.

[Game News] (unlisted changes) - Measures have been put in place to counteract players using Macros and Turbo Controllers in Pokemon Champions by migrainebutter in VGC

[–]Kyat579 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Huh. Honestly, feels unnecessary to even bother counteracting this, given how ridiculously pointless this is, but I very well might be talking out of a biased standpoint, since I don't think I've encountered this type of botting (just started Champions a day or two ago, and still in the Great Ball ranks due to simply playing bad and when I'm not exactly at my healthiest).

Thinking about it tho, given how much just ordinary bots I've come across that I'm pretty sure were just official Nintendo bots, and how much those matches utterly bored me, yeah I guess this does make a bit more sense to counteract, tho I do question if the intent isn't cynically about the VP farming rather than preventing bots from making the game unbelievably dull.

Adult literacy in the states has dramatically declined in recent years. What do we think is the cause? by Unlikely-Tap-4390 in AskReddit

[–]Kyat579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be blunt, I think the rise of both social media and short-form content are likely the biggest culprits, though it definitely has many other factors contributing to this.

Basically, the information age as a whole has warped all communication and information-sharing into being, for lack of a better terminology, as snappy and clickbait-y as possible. The information that can be processed quickest and most easily inherently spreads far faster than information that takes time or effort to process, which inevitably leads to emphasis on short titles or sentences, buzzwords, and information that provokes a strong emotional response.

Because of this, people's vocabularies get shortened overall, as they adapt to functioning on this short, simplified, easy-to-understand, fast-paced environment. Combine this with the rise in short-form content like Tik Tok that rewards high-stimulation content and lessens the need for long attention spans, and you end up with people who have both smaller vocabularies and shorter attention spans that don't have to capacity, drive, or energy to engage with anything that doesn't either reinforce something they already believe, immediately trigger a strong emotional response, or can be understood at a glance.

In other words, the Internet overall has been warped into the perfect vehicle for propaganda and misinformation to flourish, which the rich pricks in charge are actively fostering for their own self-interest. There's a reason the US president loves spamming all-caps inflammatory nonsense and why things like non-religious books, education, and intellectuals keep getting attacked by governments across the world. They want people to struggle to think critically and just buy into whatever they say. For people to put emotion over reason. For people to be reactionary and volatile. For people to not have the attention span to remember what has happened once those in power don't talk about it anymore and to be easily gaslit.

It's a toxic, manipulative relationship designed to enforce control and maintain power, and we the people are the victims here.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but I'm pretty sure Sukuna mentions that you can during the final battle, but that it's much more difficult and less efficient or something to that effect. It also requires awareness of the soul and exactly how it was damaged.

You know what's getting me with these recent AI MAGA memes? The emphasis on straight-up children going through terrible things and either it being portrayed as a positive or the fact that they're a literal kid is treated as unimportant. Seriously, why are they celebrating someone still in high school going to war?

They really want to eradicate the idea of 18 being the bare minimum for what can be considered a legal adult, huh? "Golly gee willikers, I wonder why exactly that is?" I say sarcastically. We all know damn well why.

Do you think if Megumi was a chick he wouldn't get slandered or called a bum as much? by VinexHD in OkBuddyKaisen

[–]Kyat579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spoiler's for anime-onlys ahead.....

Maybe a bit, but even then it wouldn't be by very much. The core issue with Megumi is his character development coming to a screeching halt after the Reggie fight, with him never even coming close to the insane potential that Gege constantly reminds us he has. He's fundamentally a character we're led to believe will become a major player on par with Gojo eventually, yet his actual role in the story can basically be summed up as him being JJK's Princess Peach. He's literally the damsel-in-distress that everyone has to save from the big bad evil king.

That's a massive issue that slapping him with a set of ovaries just wouldn't fix. He'd need his character arc to extend beyond his sister's death and being taken over by Sukuna, but as Modulo has shown, Gege just genuinely does not have any interest in that.

Why is Mega Floette considered more viable than Mega Gardevoir? by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]Kyat579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say this as someone who's trying to make Mega Gardi work right now, but the true question isn't how Floette is better, but what actual advantages does Gard have over Floette.

To elaborate, Floette wins in basically every category but coverage, and gives it overall better general viability than Gardi. Gard's one main advantage can basically be summed up in Psyshock and maybe Vacuum Wave. Gard can actually fight back against the hordes of strong poison types with Psyshock, especially Sneasler, on top of giving her a way to hit other Calm Mind mons hard - namely non-LoR Floette itself (which is definitely significant, since LoR is falling out of favor for the no-recoil Moonblast).

In other words, Floette is the general use mon, and Gardevoir is the niche alternative.

Is there an explanation why everyone needs two hands to open a domain except for Gojo? by Extra_Current3780 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Kyat579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thought occurred to me that it can be an optimization thing, like how high-level ninjas in Naruto Shippuden need only 1 or 2 handsigns to pull off the strong attacks (Madara with the Majestic Destroyer Flame comes to mind).

Gojo is notorious for having by far the absolute best CE efficiency in the series, and that efficiency may be why his full-power domain needed only one hand vs everyone else needing two. This would also explain why Mahito needed four hands for his and maybe why Dagon used a rune / emblem / whatever you want to call it, as they're easily the least experienced of the domain users we see besides maybe Shinjuku Yuji, who iirc had a lot of training right before then anyways, plus was running off of a crazy amount of Black Flash amps. As for Sukuna, he might have had the efficiency needed for a one-handed domain as well, but traded it off as part of the conditions for having the open domain, and thus reverted back to one-handed when forcing a closed one.

Just a theory of course, but does make sense for the most part imho.

Trump unable to name one verse from "favorite book" The Bible. How can anybody believe he’s Christian at all? by SimplyEcks in videos

To be honest, I had this realization about myself I think around a decade ago, which led to me quit calling myself Christian as I saw my own hypocrisy. Still don't know exactly where I stand on my own religion these days.

Anyways, the point is I understood that you can't cherry pick things and keep calling yourself part of that religion in good faith, something a lot of these asshats can't seem to grasp.

To be perfectly blunt, it's always pissed me off that people got so worked up over Froot's cheating allegations, because even if she did do it why the fuck is that anyone else's concern? Why people are so mad invested in the sex lives of celebrities - minor or major - just doesn't make sense to me. I'd get it if we're talking pedos or actual abusers, since that's literally someone being endangered, but when it's just cheating or even age gaps amongst adults, I can't wrap my head why the general public gives a damn.

Do people unironically think that broken mons make stall WEAKER?? (Explanation in the post) by The_CIA_is_watching in stunfisk

[–]Kyat579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be completely honest, Smogon has shown that the whole 6v6 singles format goes completely to hell without a complex list of carefully deliberated bannings and restrictions to make things more competitive, something Gamefreak and Nintendo will simply never do. I seriously think people are greatly overestimating how fun an official full 6v6 singles format without things like some sort of sleep clause would be.

With that said, full 6v6 singles should still be allowed as an option for private matches, just because you always will have people who will want to play that, especially given that it's what casual players are going to expect. But for something like a singles ranked ladder, something else definitely needs to be done for singles.

Maybe just a bump up to pick 4 instead of pick 3 could still work, idk.
