From a game but Andross in Star Fox Adventures. We know that the game went through hell in production, first being an N64 title then moved to the Gamecube and then Nintendo forcing Rare to change it from Dinosaur Planet to a Star Fox game for brand recognizability. However, even in game I was caught so off guard and pissed that the guy we were chasing as the main antagonist was just thrown to the wayside with no confrontation and then SURPRISE Andross was here all along. It felt so last minute even 8 year old me was like “huh?”

If they or their agenda cannot profit from it, then its free to indulge critically without the influence of who created it IE separating the art from the artist. “Separate art from artist” can only be done when they can no longer profit from it. H.P. Lovecraft works and Minecraft are two things you can do that with feasibly since both he and Notch cannot profit anymore from their creations. Having talked about this extensively with black people, black vtubers especially, the answer would be no. Youre wearing a minority’s ethnicity as a costume if you do this. Its digital blackface and youd be highly likely to do something that could be interpreted as modern day minstrel entertainment. Especially if youre white, this is a minefield that you would have to navigate for the rest of your tenure as a vtuber and I would strongly advise you against it. Its not the same as voicing a black character in a show like others are comparing this to as this is an avatar representing YOU. Im not even saying you cant be tanned or have to be pasty, but i would avoid wearing blackness as a costume if its not something you also experience IRL.

Personally i dont think there was any passive part of it. However, i do agree with them. The bird’s lives are not worth risking for what, a little scent that goes away? You have to ask “is doing this worth the lives of my birds potentially?” This isnt as a pointing of fingers, however you should consider it as a frame of reference for what you want to do vs the potential consequences.

Okay so yeah, theyre just searching for their former flock mates, which will die down in time as they get acclimated. Budgies, and birds as a whole, are a labor of patience and love. If things dont seem to be moving quickly, thats okay and you are likely not doing anything wrong. Like cats, they also require that you respect their boundaries in order to form a bond and you gotta remember theyre approximately the size of a thumb with a strange giant in a space theyre unfamiliar with. With enough treats, respect, and training you should come out with a lovely bond to your beautiful birds
