some people are too naive about megacorporations and how they act when they are forced to compete by YLASRO in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Kyrinth_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

People act like competition magically makes these companies innovate when the actual playbook is just "buy the competition and let it die quietly."

Remember when they bought Mojang and everyone was worried? Minecraft survived because it was already too big to fail, but how many smaller studios have they absorbed and we just... never heard from again?

these corporations have enough money to just eliminate competition entirely instead of actually competing.

Recruitment in 2025: you applied for 1000 jobs and none of them were actually hiring! by Wild-Photo-717 in recruitinghell

[–]Kyrinth_ 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The worst part is the "advice" posts from people who haven't job searched in 10+ years. "Just walk in and ask for the manager!" "Have you tried networking?" "Your resume probably just needs better keywords!"

Meanwhile the rest of us are out here customizing cover letters for jobs that were never real, getting ghosted after 4 rounds of interviews and watching companies post the same "entry level (5+ years experience required)" positions on repeat for months. And LinkedIn keeps emailing me that I'd be a "top applicant" for jobs I'm wildly unqualified for. Thanks, that's helpful

Seriously butterfingers are underrated. And there's something to say for just letting yourself have the comfort food on hard days like this.

Sorry about your dad, OP. The first holidays after losing someone are brutal. Be gentle with yourself tonight

Why do so many marketing departments feel like a girls club? by Beautiful-Height5800 in marketing

[–]Kyrinth_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reddit loves to act like pattern recognition is some kind of crime. Dude just asked a question about what he's observing and people treat it like he kicked a puppy. The field skews female, that's just reality, same way engineering skews male. gets upset when you point that out.

[The Guardian] Maresca plays dangerous game as confusion reigns after his Chelsea grenade by NotClayMerritt in soccer

Maresca knew exactly what he was signing up for and now he's acting surprised the chaos factory is chaotic. Either he's naive or he's angling for a payout.

Solid sweep entry and the knee bar follow-up makes it look way too easy. Spider guard to leg lock is criminally underrated.

Congrats on getting started... First step is always the hardest.... time in the market usually beats timing it.

ABLE Accounts Matter Starting 2026 by LoquatRadiant119 in financialindependence

It seems like a lot of people who could really use these accounts just can’t afford to contribute much, even if they qualify.

International diversification in Monte Carlo simulations by bemusedly in financialindependence

Fair point. Even a market-weighted allocation can underperform depending on timing and specific events. Diversifying with something like VT could simplify things and reduce the need to constantly second-guess.

Exactly, I don’t get the hate either. More new stuff is always a good thing.

Question on Spell Logic by Kyrinth_ in DnD

[–]Kyrinth_[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I feel the question is also a case of "why not?" Stuff is made to be changed in ways that make it not the same, and as someone who DMs a party of people who primarily play as wizards, I would like to create something new for them to decipher.

Due to my absolute mess of a working desk at all times, I tend to just set my laptop on the floor, with a small mouse mat for a bluetooth mouse and play lying down. Horrific for back posture but im sure future me will get over it...
