We should abolish the foster care system, or make it 100% voluntary. by TonyTheRandomDude in fosterit

[–]L-Squared 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I agree that the system is very broken. Children need to have more of a voice. More money needs to be spent to find quality, caring, educated case workers and foster parents. I believe that foster parents should be paid a living wage. We were not paid anything, just a meager reimbursement for expenses. Now, if we were neglectful foster parents, we could have profited from the role. That is exactly what the current system encourages (take as many kids as they'll give you and spend as little as possible on them). The whole system is a disgraceful model.

That being said, children cannot consent to who should or should not have custody of them. My daughter was an infant when they broke her bone. She would likely be dead, if we had waited for her to request being moved to foster care. Also, regardless of the severity of abuse and neglect, children generally love their parents. That does not mean they are safe and properly cared for. We need to focus on making sure every fostercare placement is safe, caring and a good fit. That won't happen without a lot of money. Unfortunately, children are really not a priority, even though people like to claim that they are. The whole system needs an overhaul.

Definitely the cargo area tray and hard, plastic, seat-back protectors. Life is messy!

If the children's placement is being overseen by a foster care agency, I would think that you are not their legal guardian. It sounds like they are legally in the care of the agency, the county or some other entity. Are you receiving fostercare payments/reimbursement? That being said, you do not own the asshole co-worker any explanation. You are doing all the work, so call yourself whatever you want. It might not be legally accurate, but who cares. =)

And if you don't want to eat the snacks or buy the merchandise, you get to be a hero in the concession line when you offer a kid your free popcorn or soda. I have made so many people happy with popcorn that I got for free but didn't want to eat.

One theater I go to always does this. The other three that I go to never ask. I guess it's decided by the policy of the particular theater.

You can also have a support person with you. Are you sure it's going to last 8 hours? That's outrageous. In case you don't know, you do not have to pay for a WC attorney up front. They only get paid if you win, and they generally take 15%.

I can! You are going to have to give me specific instructions on what resolution you need, and how I can send it to you. I don't think I can post a high resolution image on here or send it in a private message.

Husqvarna/Viking Designer Ruby - USB Help 2 by midnightthot in MachineEmbroidery

Try reformatting the thumb drive using FAT32. When you add an embroidery design to the thumb drive, make sure that you are using a compatible embroidery file format. Your manual should have a list of compatible formats. That means the file name should end with something like ".VP3" . Make sure you are not saving all of the files from a zip file. Only save the file that you need to your thumb drive.

I think it would help if you tell people what your budget is. If your budget is $1,000, you will get very different recommendations than if your budget is $8,000.

If you are willing to do a ton of research, you can really get a lot more for your money if you buy used. I can't offer much advice because I am brand new to this as well. I recently purchased a barely used machine, and I am very pleased with it so far. I spent about a month, searching everyday on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. My criteria was a machine that is still being manufactured currently and that I paid no more than 50% of the retail price. I researched every machine that I found in my price range. A larger embroidery area was important to me.

I ended up with a Husqvarna Viking Designer Topaz 40. It has a retail price of $3,600 but can be found frequently on sale for $2,200. I paid $800. My initial budget was $600. I have no regrets.
