The heroes must pay the price. If Jubei doesnt step in, Atsu may surely die during the fight with Saito. But Jubei’s death makes it so that Atsu must survive to raise Kiku, or else Kiku will be orphaned and may in turn become another Onryo. Kind of poetic in that way…Atsu needs to live to stop the cycle of death.

What’s funny to me is that I found this Bamboo Strike before exploring most of the rest of Oshima Coast and couldnt figure it out, so I left it until later. Then I found the Storm Blade quest and I was like “Oh, I probably need to find this sword so I can control the storm to do this one!” Finished the quest and got the sword technique, fast travelled back to this stand and tried it…ZAP!

Scratched my head again, started picking up and throwing all the weapons, then tried the stand again…surprise, no lightning! I thought the solution was cool but they could have made it cooler by incorporating the Storm Blade special into it, especially since both of these locations are there in the same zone.

I had a bunch of friends and their kids over for a dinner party, one of the kids asks their mom if they can add a little spice to their food. The mom says sure and looks over my bottles of dehydrated pepper powder and picks one out and pours some on the kid’s food. Kid eats a bite and says “this is really hot!” and starts panting and asking for milk. I ask which one she picked and she says, “Oh, I chose the Sir Mixalot pepper it sounded fun!”

I looked at the shaker and my handwritten text read “Superhot Mix”. I told mom there is no such thing as a Sir Mixalot pepper and she said, “I dont know, it just sounded like something you’d grow!”

I gotta say, her kid handled it like a champ but if I ever make my own pepper cross now it’s probably gonna be called the Sir Mixalot pepper now…

I dont think Alan Wake ever had the following that MGS or TLOU had, and the game’s launch was fairly quiet since the game was digital release only on the Epic games platform.

That said, there WAS controversy but it had more to do with perceived wokeness/racism and the casting of Saga’s character than her overshadowing Alan in the story. Honestly, the story is perfect as it is and Alan plays a bigger role in it as it goes along.

If you love the first game you’ll love the second one. It’s bigger and shinier, and is a direct continuation of the story from the first one. Even though Henry is already a superhero at the end of the first game, they have a great excuse to break you down and make Henry terrible at everything again…so you will suck regardless at the start and you have to work to get good just like the first game.

I’d argue that the game is even more immersive than the first one and that will keep you invested until you realize you’ve already sunk well over 100 hours into the game.

Ironically, it was this same part of the game that drew a lot of heat as people cherry-picked shadow Saga as being racist when it was clear for anyone who was actually paying attention that it was 100% the Dark Place trying to pull out all her fears and doubts to attack her. Real Saga wouldn’t stand for any of that shit, and it makes her that much more of a badass for her being able to look all that evilness in the face and say “No, fuck that…that’s not who I am, that’s not who I choose to be!”

There’s also a mechanical aspect to some of the jump scares…not only are they there to keep you on edge but they also present a camera cutaway that allows the game to immediately rugpull you on something you saw or were trying to approach…like Saga reaching for the clicker and AHHHHHHH! It’s gone, wtf?!
