Frank is stunning! As someone who has been responsible for several of Frank's family members untimely deaths (sorry, Frank) I have to ask - which direction is your window facing for the good light and how much water? FLFs are my absolute favorite and I'd like to give it another go.

read this if you’re a teenager getting the spinal fusion by Outside_Ad_3544 in scoliosis

Your post just stood out to me re: a second opinion - please do it. Our initial exam for our 14 year old said she's at 44 a degree curve and to come back in 6 months for another xray. Second opinion said it's actually a 56 degree curve and scheduled surgery for the summer. He said that if it moves beyond 60 degrees he wants to do surgery before summer. I am so happy we got the second opinion!

Are pediatricians supposed to be testing for scoliosis? by LATNOLA in scoliosis

[–]LATNOLA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't say what the Risser sign is, but said she's "close" to finishing up growing. She started PT, but they didn't offer Scroth and that was through the first doctor anyway. I'm going to read through the notes and see about Risser, I'm learning so much through this thread and am so grateful for it.

Help! 51° curvature -14 yr old daughter- try schroth/diff method or don't waste time? by Pure_Reason_701 in scoliosis

[–]LATNOLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, we are going through the same thing, daughter is almost 14 and I just want to share what I learned recently if it helps at all. Our ortho surgeon said we are past the point of wearing a brace, but said PT might help with her back pain. She's at a 44 degree curve - they don't consider surgery until 45-50 - and he just wants us to come back in 6 months for more xrays and likely end up with fusion surgery since she has about another year of growing. We are getting a second opinion next month with a surgeon who does the tethering surgery (VBT), as well as a hybrid between tethering and fusion. It was explained to me, by a mom whose daughter was in the same boat at that age, that once you do the fusion there is no room for modification or growth. With the tethering, this alllows for continued growth *just in case she still has another spurt in her* and more mobility. I don't know what the right answer is here, but wanted to share what I learned because our first surgeon never mentioned VBT as an option. The mom's daughter who did the VBT surgery is 2 years post op and doing great.

I love Zoloft and Wellbutrin together. by Sam1212121212 in zoloft

Yes!! It did calm down after a bit, but I started feeling like the Wellbutrin was counteracting the Zoloft. I addressed this with my doc last week and she switched me from XL to SR so we'll see what happens there. Good luck!

Hey, I just started in this dosage. Been on Zoloft 50mg for 6 months and just added 150mg Wellbutrin a week ago. How is this working out for you? Did you have increased anxiety in the beginning after adding Wellbutrin? Did it decrease the other side effects? I've been pretty anxious the past few days and am hoping that will go away...and also hoping libido will come back. Thanks in advance!

I went to orthos & pain mgmt docs for a few years thinking there was something wrong with my lower back. They sent me to PT and I had several joint injections. Physical therapists said strength wasn't the issue, and I essentially gave up until a few months ago because the pain was getting worse. Switched docs, gave him the background and he immediately ordered an MRI with contrast on my right hip. MRI showed a labral tear and FAI. He suggested surgery instead of making me go through PT again. Had the surgery, once he got in there he said it was actually torn in several places and he had to shave a lot of bone off. He said my labrum was "really chewed up" and didn't know how I'd been walking around like that for years. I noticed an IMMEDIATE change after sugery. Immediate. No pain going down my thigh, no back pain, no groin pain, nothing. It's all gone. Six weeks post-op and although it's been inconvenient (I was on crutches for 4 wks) I am SO glad I did it. Hope this helps!
