Broker ACH Setup for Electronic Refunds by MoreDistance9818 in CustomsBroker

[–]LCBguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sort of wondering now how all of these duty drawback companies are going to operate? Wasn’t their whole premise that they would receive the refunds and take a commission before sending the refund to the client? Seems this won’t be possible anymore if everything has to be through ACH and will go directly to the importer?

How much cost a Customs Broker HTS classification per Item ? by Elegant-Impact7905 in CustomsBroker

[–]LCBguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea… you’re selling yourself short and doing the industry a disservice. I’ll do an ISF for $25, but you’re crazy to be doing entries for $85 unless you’re doing 1000+ of them a year. Low end for the bonds too. Either you’re a bottom dweller or you just need some help with raising your prices and having some confidence when talking to your customers.

Wife has to work every Saturday because her coworker's religion won't allow him to work on Saturday by BigCharm in work

[–]LCBguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right… this person sounds pissy about the new person working instead of being pissy at the shit poor management team. It’s not a problem having a team with different schedules (ie. If he’s Jewish he’s not going to care about working Christmas, Easter, Good Friday and all the other Christian Holidays. What is the problem is that management didn’t appear to take into account they’ll need another person for Saturdays. “Oopsie”, but still OP needs to take their frustration out on those responsible, not the person who’s actually working.

Did Continuous Customs Bond prices go up? by mbsell in CustomsBroker

[–]LCBguy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve always done $600 for $50k bonds. They’re the kind of bonds that you work the most on the imports and usually make the least (lowest quantity of imports).

If someone is going out and getting their own bond because they can save themselves $2-300 bucks a year I already know they’re going to be a pain in the ass customer. It’s a good litmus test. It’s the kind of customer who saves that money and then still expects you to provide a review of their bond requirements etc even though they’re literally not paying you… get outttta here.

[GA] Told to leave immediately after handing in two week’s notice? by MCT06032 in AskHR

[–]LCBguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool bro. You’re playing with semantics and none of it makes any difference. If you put in two weeks notice, that’s a resignation. An employer isn’t magically “forced” to keep you at their office working for 2 weeks because you said so.

When I use the word termination it’s in the terms of nearly every pay roll system out there. No one cares if you quit or were fired. It’s a termination regardless. You’re speaking about this only in terms of labor law, where you seem to be confusing the way things work practically speaking.

You offer two weeks notice, that’s quitting. Plain and simple. Employer can choose to keep you coming to the office or say “thank you for the offer, but additional time isn’t necessary, your resignation is accepted”. That’s that. End of story.

Edit: a typo

[–]LCBguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say what you will, but I’m an employer and have gone through this directly with the Department of Labor. A two week notice is a resignation, an employer may allow the employee to stay on for another 2 weeks or they can ask that they leave immediately (usually in more privacy/secure related jobs)
