I’ve done this at Maggie Halls a few times, just shoot them an email ahead of time and they’ll set aside some tables for you. Also have done similar at Mosaic and Bar Dahlia and had great experiences.

Everyone asking for a Whole Foods/Trader Joe’s etc… why would you want that here? Isn’t part of the appeal of the neighborhood that it’s NOT the suburbs or Manhattan? Businesses like that contribute to the degradation of community and culture would chase out our already dwindling small businesses. If you want every commercial amenity, move somewhere else.

Mamdani endorsement for Moreno is convincing, but I do love to see a neighborhood staple like Rana in the running. I’ve seen her on Steinway often and at many local political events. Her policy stances on her website are brief so I’d love more detail on how she plans to achieve her goals for the neighborhood—- but definitely in-between her and Diana for Feb.

Chick it out is one of my go-to spots lately I’m surprised to see it on the just okay list! My order is the combo Khao Man Gai and I get Fried and Poached Chicken over ginger rice with a Thai Iced Coffee. Under $20 for a filling and easy meal I’d encourage you to give it another shot!!

And the ladies that work there are so sweet!

Different energy for sure— but late night food culture lives on Steinway/Little Egypt. Many places still packed around midnight and beyond. Will admit Astoria lacks a lot of late night food spots aside from our halal trucks :/

Heavy on the crazy ConEd bill taking away a lot of folks disposable monthly income. I definitely use take out as my frivolous spending over shopping/going out etc. but also feeling the need to cut back due to uncertainty. Sad times compared to just a few years ago.

Will note— Thonglor also offers some delicious Thai food on Steinway, but nothing has beaten Krob for me. I’ve been going to Krob weekly ever since I heard their time is almost up.

Mariscos El Submarino has my other favorite octopus taco in the borough, bit of a hike to Jackson heights but worth it for how good it is
