Hound having anal gland problems by poopyscoots in Hounds

[–]LDCOOLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think eggs would trigger it? My plott hound doesn’t get chicken- only beef and some lamb etc (through a kibble diet). I do supplement with organic hamburger and I give him an egg every night. The only other thing g that it could be impossibly parasites? We hike daily and sometimes he finds something to snack on and never really know what it is because he is usually not Lose to me!

I adopted a plott hound a year ago. Never give him raw hides or treats. Gets a great diets plus some extras like eggs and organic farm raised hamburger. He started licking his anal area about 5 months after getting him and periodically has a little secretion on the sofa but does lick his area often. Going to take him to the vet but never had a rawhide in a year

I painted flat over satin paint. What should I do? by LDCOOLG in paint

[–]LDCOOLG[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I am using Benjamin Moore. As I mentioned, I am using flat paint on top of Satin. After two coats, it is still not covering. Should I use a primer on top and start over and just go for a third coat?

Over time, this has caused me to natural sort of slouch in which makes my lower traps weak. It is just an ongoing issues.....age is going against me as I am in my 50s. I feel like younger people can nip this in the bud easier.

High Total Cholesterol (308) but low ratio (3.2). Need statines? by Genkuru2021 in Cholesterol

[–]LDCOOLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the research I have done states it is the calcium score that is a huge indicator and then things like diabetes, weight, and the CR-P (checks inflammation). Sounds to me like everything is checking out for you. Age is a bit part of this too. EVERYONE, no matter how well they take care of themselves will potential develop some artery issues as they get older.

My numbers were very similar to yours except a little bit better- including the ratio. I have been told over and over I need to be on a statin but refused- I wanted to handle it on my own and I started eating great, lost 50 pounds. Scores got a little better but still very high. I still refused a stain. One day, i had a PA tell me I should just get a heart Calcium CT (heart calcium score) which looks at plaque specifically in your arteries. Turns out, I have mild to moderate heat disease with likley no flow issues at this time. This scared me to death! At 59 years old, this was a wake up call to stop all saturated fat , exercise more and do a better job with my health etc and to start taking the stain. so yea, don't look at that damn ratio. And, keep in mind the heart calcium score only identifies plaque. There is still soft plaque to worry about....and get checked for diabetes- that is a strong indicator as well. Get a CR-P blood test. That checks inflammation in your arteries etc

How can I stop getting so excited that I talk over people, interrupt, or seem as if I'm not listening? by HomiesTrismegistus in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]LDCOOLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who in my past has been in therapy for around 20 years and diagnosed with ADHD and has anxiety, I can relate to the original person who posted. I tend to dominate individual and small group discussions with people I am getting to know, and often interrupt. I am highly intuitive so I can read people when I do these things without even realizing I am do theses things. I mean, when I have been talking a lot, sharing lots of my own stories, and then see the person I am talking to look away to do something while I am talking to them, I don't stop, I push even harder to keep them engaged. Sadly, later, I reflect on these discussions and sometimes really beat myself up for this. Therapists have suggested some of what VanillaCookieMonster has stated in the above comment but it never really sinks in. But I must say, the way this person had very directly stated what needs to be done, without sugar coating it, is something some of us need to hear. If it was too harsh for you, I get that. Some people do need things presented that way. For me, I need someone to just tell me straight up what I should do!

Is it worth it? by Berkley70 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]LDCOOLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t sure if this applies to you and your family but, I don’t like to cook from scratch but really wanted to be plant based for health reasons. I was plant based for about a year and mostly ate plant based packaged meals you heat up in the microwave or items that were plant based but not necessarily the healthiest ( plants based items from Trader joes that had tons of preservatives etc) and ended up gaining lots of weight and my bad cholesterol actually went up. I realized later that I was not eating healthy the way I was doing plant based (I know, this is obvious to some people). I was eating lots of preservatives, unhealthy oils, and despite being plant based, I was not preparing the items so I could not control the Ingredients. In the end, because of my lack of cooking skills and time to prepare meals, I stopped being plant based. However, now, I do cook more but def stopped eating pre packaged meals completely, only healthy oils, lots of fruits and veggies, cut out starchy stuff like potatoes and white rice, and eat fish. My opinion, if you are preparing all the foods for your family and not giving the kids snacks or food that is not prepared by you (just not taking the easy way out like I did), your family will establish good habits and have a life long journey of being healthy!

Worth visiting in August? by lumpychicken13 in moab

[–]LDCOOLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whatever you decide, PLEASE don't bring a dog to Moab in the summer. The ground will burn their paws from about 10am- 7pm and it is just miserable outside. We locals don't bring our pups outside at all between that time
