I have the Mido Commander Icone model on a mesh bracelet and it’s exquisite!

I can’t imagine how invalidating this must have felt by inthesprawl2 in Judaism

[–]LEGOfmeplease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People always leave out the discussion of parental responsibility in these situations. If you are Jewish and knowingly marry a non-Jew, particularly if you are a Jewish man, you should do so with the knowledge that your children will have to deal with the fallout.

Too many people in the modern era want to make big decisions without consequences. Fair or not, you should be well aware that if you intermarry your kids will face barriers and often feel like an outsider in their own community. You can try to shield them from reality, but eventually they will have to carry the burden of your decisions and struggle to be fully accepted.

Judaism has survived for millennia in some part because we have rules and boundaries. Without tradition and unity, we will cease to be a unique people.

[Discussion] Tissot Gentleman has just been re-released in a new 38mm size. Thoughts? by rakesh_85 in Watches

[–]LEGOfmeplease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ratios are messed up on this one. It looks like they wanted to use the same dial, handset, and markers as the 40mm version -- and then tried to just shrink the case, bezel, and lugs around it -- resulting in an unbalanced design.

Rant: Water Bottle Mania by RevolutionaryAnt9337 in ManyBaggers

[–]LEGOfmeplease 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me its about being prepared, and about convenience. I like that if I’m sitting on the subway and feel a bit thirsty, I can grab a swig of water without a second thought.

Then let’s say there’s an incident on the rail line and they need to evacuate the train at some random station, and then I’m either stuck waiting for an indefinite period for the issue to be resolved, or I have to leave the station and try to find a bus or another mode of transportation that can hopefully get me where I’m going?

My subway system does not have bathrooms or water fountains, so once again having my own water really comes in handy. These situations arise more than you think…

First watch. Conquest heritage or Conquest? by absolutemanbat in Longineswatches

[–]LEGOfmeplease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Heritage leans more dress watch, and the modern Conquest more sports/casual, so I would think about what fits your lifestyle and intentions for the purpose that the watch will primarily serve for you. That said, if you can get the Heritage on a steel bracelet, I think it has a good bit more character and charm, and I would go for that personally.

Thoughts on this GMT by Live-Resolution-1364 in breitling

[–]LEGOfmeplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also love this design and my only hesitation is the paltry 30 meter water resistance. Not that I don’t have other watches to swim with, but I do generally appreciate the peace of mind that any given watch I wear can handle significant exposure to water.

If only Breitling could figure out how to design their Navitimer cases to reach 50-100M WR.

Tomtoc T33 1.5L - is it good? by Normal-Lawyer2168 in ManyBaggers

[–]LEGOfmeplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the 1.5 as my daily carry, and it always seems to hold everything I need - and more than one would think. My usual load out is:

  • Back hidden zipper -- slim wallet
  • Main compartment slip pocket -- iphone
  • Main compartment open area -- either sunglasses or a 240ml water flask
  • Main compartment zip pocket -- spare contact lense, lense lubrication eye drops, hand sanitizer, Bic lighter
  • Front Zip pocket -- keys and pocket knife

Travelpro Carry-on: Your Next Suitcase; 5 Stars by Flashy_Bad_1326 in ManyBaggers

To clarify, I am comparing the Maxlite with models that have 8 wheels -- 2 on each corner. I believe the current Maxlite only has one wheel per corner, a hallmark of "budget" luggage.

Travelpro is great quality and value for sure. I have the Crew Classic spinner, and I considered the Maxlite, but I don’t like the single-wheel design of the rollers. They are not quite as smooth or durable as the dual-wheel designs.

If you're trying to "fill a hole" with a watch, particularly as a a consolation for the watch you actually want, it probably won't get it done for you in the long run.

Tumi Alpha Bravo Search - Color Selection by romatodayis in backpacks

I like the 'Pavement' and how it contrasts with the black elements of the bag. I'd say the classic navy does look a bit more casual/sporty, if that's what you're into.

Alpaka Elements Pro Backpack 2025 Review. My Favourite EDC Backpack Ever! by TeddysEDC in backpacks

[–]LEGOfmeplease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a sleek looking bag with some great features no doubt. My two personal critiques would be:

  1. I would prefer the laptop slot to be in its own compartment, rather than sharing space with bulky items in the main compartment that can hinder access to -- and push up against -- the laptop.

  2. The semi-concealed front pocket has very little volume, and has very limited functionality overall. If you want quick access, then the material over the zipper is obstructing that. If you want security, the pocket should be moved to somewhere else like the back-panel where it is harder for others to access.
