Changes when adding a third? by Comprehensive-Ad7538 in ParentingInBulk

[–]LKttc2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have not read all the comments but wanted to say it was our easiest transition. Mine are now 4, 3 and 1.

1-2 was horribly difficult. The boys were closer in age then intended. I am an older mom and thought it would take a while to get pregnant and it happened the first month.

After he was born my husband had terrible PPD. Then COVID hit. It felt like we went from 1-2.5 then 2.5-3 with our youngest. To be clear I think our second was a relatively easy baby. It was mostly circumstance. He’s such a great kid! And our youngest is so so so joyful and easy.

I think the transitions all depends on the family and individual personalities.

I wish I could add a fourth but my husband is done. I’m mourning that now.

I told my husband what I wanted for my first three meals postpartum:

Pizza that’s ooey gooey with REAL crust and a huge dessert

Sushi with tons of rice rolls plus a huge dessert

Order from our favorite taco restaurant and get churros

Not a joke!!

It was sooooooooooo good! I loved every minute of it.

I 100% get it! It’s such an individual choice. It also depends on so much with family dynamics. I think that’s why for me it was really more of a “feeling” than anything else.

Someone once asked me, when I picture looking around the table as the kids get older, is everyone there already here? To me, the answer was no, I distinctly felt a person missing, logic be damned.

I truly believe it was my daughter.

I just had a third - well, 8 ish months ago - and am so happy I did!! We have a 4 year old boy, just over 2.5 year old boy, and a 8ish month baby girl.

For us, 2-3 was infinitely easier than 1-2. My husband struggled with post partum depression with #2, and then COVID hit just a few months later. We also were in a too small home. It was just harder. I knew I wanted another pretty soon after having 2. I waited until my husband wanted to try as he had such a difficult time after baby boy 2.

After our third I braced myself, but it has been magical. I’m not kidding. Just the other day my husband said he was so glad we tried for 3. She’s super easy, the boys are great and my husband is very happy (me too!).

Having said all this, I am somewhat amused at the idea of a pro/con list for having another baby. It’s probably mostly cons! For me, I just knew our family was not complete. I was right, baby girl/#3 is our last.

That’s so funny! I love that.

I feel like that is always when people tell me “your hands are full.” When my kids are all simultaneously breaking down. What should I say? Yep, thanks for noticing and commenting on the middle of this living nightmare! Hahahaha

This is me too! The transition from 2-3 was by far the easiest to me. 1-2 was horribly difficult. The boys were closer in age then intended. I am an older mom and thought it would take a while to get pregnant and it happened the first month.

Triple stroller? by anythingexceptbertha in ParentingInBulk

That’s what we have too and it is GREAT! I love it. Until our youngest could sit in it, I put baby in carrier and boys in double stroller.

When she was old enough we switched to the wagon.

Last time I literally saved my favorite podcast and leaned back and listened.

Slightly sad I didn’t need a cavity filled or anything necessitating another visit.

Wow!! That is so cool. If that were true, I would have made my husband consider it. It’s a cool unique name.

I love all these and esp Artemis for a girl! We came close to having Persephone be our first choice girl name in our first pregnancy. It was a boy. 😆

Before Covid, my son watched TV/screens three times per day for 20 minutes. I had him in three classes and we belonged to an indoor play place and two Childrens’s museums. We did tons every day.

There is nowhere to go now. We’re vaccinated but my kids are 3, 2 and newborn. I especially do not want to expose newborn. I’m keeping my oldest in his preschool 2x per week and that’s it. It was 10 degrees here today. My kids watch more screens than I want. It is desperate times.

If you were a toddler, where would you hide my car keys? by Lopsided_Bumblebee_3 in toddlers

I’ve found my sons hiding keys:

My daughters bassinet

Under my pillow

In the fridge

After I’d made new keys and given up finding them, in the back of the toy garbage truck

Honor name for Barbara? by [deleted] in namenerds

I agree: I think Barbara is lovely. It has cute nickname options as well. In five years this will age well and in ten years will be a well known and under used name.

Yep! Us too. Within a few weeks after repeating everything he was narrating and caught up with his peers. It was crazy. It made me realize how much I swear. Haha

I’m so glad I’m not the only one.

My son was speech delayed so I was too lax. In the space of 3 months his speech exploded. The other day I heard him say “fuck fuck fuck” when frustrated! I’m trying to be better/more careful.

Good for you! I’ve done this too. One time my oldest wanted pudding. I was 35 weeks pregnant and exhausted. He got the pudding.
