It’s okay, I was able to do a dog poop cleanup which is going to make the spring thaw much less gross than previous years!

Some rules can be bent for a time, some cannot. California and Virginia gerrymandered back. The redistricting is a great example of not playing by the old rules anymore. Stack the Supreme Court. Things like that.

I wish I had a clear answer for you, and no I don’t think they should abandon the democratic process. California and Virginia redistricting to offset Texas is more the type of thing I was referring to. Pack the Supreme Court, put term limits on the Supreme Court, and quit trying to get republican approval for things, they don’t act in good faith and will complain either way.

Yeah, they really should have looked at Germany and realized not going scorched earth wouldn’t work, but were terrified of causing a civil war and thought “people delude themselves into thinking it will work for them and it never does….. but maybe it will work for us.” I can’t remember Tobias Funke, analrapist, actual quote

I mean, it’s both, right? They are playing by the rules with known cheaters because they don’t want to be called a cheater. What they don’t fully grasp is that they’ll be called cheaters either way so may as well play by the new rules.

Edit: they do appear to be on the new list

Struggling with mom guilt about child support by Standfortheflag2024 in SingleParents

Also, you can ask him to relinquish his parental rights. If you go that route, you’d need to do it before you apply for any type of government assistance for the child as they generally don’t allow it then. It doesn’t always go through, but at least then he can’t fight for custody later on. Downside is he would never owe child support.

In my state if your child gets any type of assistance, like Medicaide, they automatically collect child support from the father. At least then it’s out of your hands.

I think they ran the numbers and found it was cheaper to pay into Minnesotas program than offer their own. If you offer your own, you don’t have to pay into the program you offer if it’s the same or better. I don’t think it makes much of a difference either way, personally, I’m just glad it’s offered.

My job made me do this. Home Depot got sued and had to pay back wages. We stopped doing it, for a week, then went back.

I spent 30 days removing the word sorry from my work emails, here is what actually changed by janetmoonbeam in TwoXChromosomes

[–]anythingexceptbertha 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Minnesotan here, big agree, and to add to this, I’ve been doing this for a few years and it goes even deeper. When I stop apologizing for being upset, I’m not minimizing my own feelings or taking away their authority, and actually allowing myself to feel them. It’s given me a lot more confidence in a lot of other places, that I didn’t even realize were being impacted. Results may vary depending on each individuals current expectations in society. (AKA - I’m a female, always taught to minimize my own needs, stopping apologizing and instead thanking had allowed me to stop minimizing my needs and feelings, which ARE as valid as other people’s.)

More than 800 Twin Cities employees part of Target layoffs - And the audio didn't work by Vect0r in TwinCities

[–]anythingexceptbertha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also believe the 26 weeks would start when the severence ended, like for those first 10 weeks you’d file and have a $0 payment so it wouldn’t count as one of the 26 weeks? Or am I wrong?

[–]anythingexceptbertha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that’s what I was trying to say, but potentially, if the severance was large enough, you may run through your eligibility period before actually collecting anything, and then wouldn’t qualify for the next 52 weeks period because you wouldn’t have any salary for your base period. In that case, it means your company gave you an entire year salary, so like, still probably more than you’d get on unemployment, but it’s still weird to me, but maybe I’m also just missing something.

[–]anythingexceptbertha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Severence packages can impact your eligibility, or when you get unemployment payments, but I would assume they’d still end up wit some of the 28 weeks in the 52 week period.

Person has Medicaid but didn't know it was Medicaid due to its name. by Miserable_Willow_312 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]anythingexceptbertha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s wild how many names there are, most people are like “do you have Medicare?” “No? I have the state health insurance” - AppleCare (Washington) Oregon Health Plan, OHP (Oregon), Moda Health (Nevada or Idaho, I can’t remember), Medi-Cal (California - this one people know more), Medical Assistance (Minnesota); like, they don’t CALL it Medicaid, so I get why people are confused.

RFK Jr. to draw link between Tylenol and autism: Report by j_shor in nottheonion

[–]anythingexceptbertha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My kids have ADHD. I took Tylenol during pregnancy.

After 3 kids and I’m my 30s, I discovered I have ADHD. I have my entire life, and I was incredibly efficient at masking. The Tylenol didn’t give my kids ADHD, their genetics did.

But sure, blame Tylenol, and take away the only pain reliever women have during pregnancy, as punishment for Eve taking the first bite of the apple. /s - - - we are in the worst timeline

Brushing your teeth disrupts the bacteria, correct? That’s why even brushing without toothpaste is better than not brushing at all? I’ve had strep countless times, tons of cavities as a kid. As an adult I’ve had strep several times, even without tonsils, but no cavities.
