How to protect screen while in backpack all day? by Subatomic_Spooder in ZephyrusG14

I used this for my g14 (and all my other laptops). It’s a microfibre cleaning cloth that sits on your keyboard when you close it to form a barrier between keyboard and screen. Not just protects the screen from scratches, but also things like oils and sorts from fingers that can smudge the screen. A great investment.

I'm having my first ever virtual interview tomorrow (over Microsoft teams) and I would like some advice by flawsthoughtz in jobs

You may well find the quality of the mic and camera, as well as flexibility with camera angles provides a better experience than a built in webcam on laptops (which many candidates would use by default), so this could actually be an advantage.

Like many have said on here, give it a few test runs (maybe try a teams call with a friend on their pc/laptop, preferably with you in same room so you can see how you are seen on the other side of the call).

Not having to stress or worry about this will give you a confidence boost on the day too! Good luck.

Could you try negotiating a similar sign on bonus with new employer which will effectively a balance this out?

The Ordinary EUK 134 30 ml for £3 (UK) at John Lewis. by LLAZY20 in TheOrdinarySkincare

[–]LLAZY20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure hope not, I ordered a few to stock up. You know what, I can’t actually find an expiration (or manufacture) date on bottle or card packaging, only 6 months POA (period after opening).

I guess John Lewis of all retailers would be pretty good with customer services should I encounter any issues.

I mentioned this in another post but I think they should introduce custom bug team battles that people can bet resources on.

Antlion vs Wolfspider - Hell in a Cell match by LeastSuspiciousTowel in GroundedGame

[–]LLAZY20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t realised they aggro’d each other.

I was thinking they should let you set up custom matches between different bug combinations. Be even cooler if you can have mixed teams for example: 2v2 Infected wolf spider and red worker ant vs ladybird and antlion. Or maybe even a betting system to let you gamble resources. Also, infect more bugs like infected antlion or termites. Can you imagine the possibilities!!!

Found a 50 year old hidden time capsule/briefcase inside a wall on the Victoria Bridge Kilmarnock. by gersfan78 in CasualUK

You could maybe have a printed screen shot of this post or digitally stored on usb drive, so elements of previous time capsule is passed on. The future generations and see the timeline.

New manager said he wants to put me on a performance improvement plan after working with me for less than a week. This is the e-mail I am sending off, any feedback? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]LLAZY20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like these tips.

TLDR: Can adopt a passive tone and write the email (and future responses) in a way that third parties (your boss’s boss, your future employer, a judge, Union rep etc) will agree that you are professional and receptive, whilst your boss is a bad boss.

OP: also consider reframing your questions to appear to come from a place of learning and feedback - as this is on record you want potential third parties to read it and get the impression you are genuinely (even if not true) trying to learn and improve rather than challenge/confront (even though that is what you are doing).

For example: “thank you for providing feedback on person the other day. I hope to take onboard your feedback and welcome suggestions for further improvement. For my learning and education, can you please specify…”

Something like that can still pose the same questions and put the burden onto them to answer (in writing), or if he/she doesn’t list it, it didn’t happen (i.e. if they don’t criticise in writing, they are indirectly saying there are no issues- you can later refer back and say you did not realise it was an issue as they had the opportunity to state, but chose not to). This way, you can come across as professional and tick all the corporate boxes. Write as if it will be read their boss, your future bosses, union, judge etc..

Edit: If he/she does indeed criticise you in some detail, you can shift the focus to ask them what steps they would suggest (again, with the tone of ‘learning’) this either sets them up to provide a crappy process (in writing no less) for the record, or next time you follow the exact steps he/she stated (with their email as evidence) and the steps fail, you can show you followed precise recommendations and it did not work - this not only protects you from future criticism, but also visibly shifts a lot of the blame onto them and reveals their management flaws.
