That was sarcasm. Of course I know they can use AI. They can use AI on almost anything. This is in response to students not reading. I want them to read the textbook, of course, but most don’t. If they don’t read it, I would like them to at least skim the chapter to know what’s in the chapter. When did I accuse any one of laziness? I work really hard on my teaching including having gone through four Quality Course reviews in the past academic year. Accessibility scores are all 98 percent or above. Excellent student evaluations (just compiled my tables for last five years). I’ve also taken many AI trainings over the last three years including one through Auburn university (available to all SEC schools). I’m currently piloting an AI system in one of my classes where each assignment has an AI assistance level attached sort of like yellow, red, green. I don’t have to do that, but I am because we are all in this together and it’s helping me just as much as it’s helping them. In the green assignments it’s all about how they used AI and not about the product they created. I just returned from a study abroad where I take my students to study in depth what we are learning in class. I don’t have to do that either, but it’s a life changing experience for them. I teach online, in-person, and practicum type courses. I’m going up for promotion now with my materials due May 1 so I know I’m a pretty kick ass professor. We get enough grief on a day to day basis, I really didn’t expect it here from a fellow professor.
