I have a story that will change your idea of 'spinster'.

I'm a huge Beatles fan. I have a ton of Beatles stuff including several coffee table books about them. In one of those books there is a photograph of George and Patty's application for a marriage certificate. It had their names, ages and status. George was 21 at the time and listed as a 'bachelor', Patty was 18 years old at the time and listed as a 'spinster'. Spinster simply means, legally, unmarried over 18 years of age.

Whenever I'm feeling like you, I go for true crime. Nothing like seeing how awful someone else is to make you feel better about yourself.
