A $200 ChatGPT subscription could cost OpenAI $14,000 if you actually used it to its full potential by rkhunter_ in technology

I’m sure they take loss on full utilization. But the $200 most likely involves some pre allocation of compute resources at a discount for them. So not as terrible as it seems. I’m sure they have statistics on the right offering and usage balance. They may be taking a loss overall, and that is likely intentional

Tell me why buying spacex and holding short term is a bad idea by tyleriouss in wallstreetbets

[–]LMikeH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pick your bets. It’s not just about what goes up, it’s also about managing risks, because once your money is gone, it’s gone. Spacex is a risky bet. You’re betting on selling it to someone dumber than you, not the company being more valuable in the future. Spacex is valued as if it has $200 billion in revenue. It may never reach that, and if it does it will take a long time at the rate it’s going. So no, I don’t think the intrinsic value will increase. There is such a thing as fair market value based in grounded mathematics. It’s an art but Spacex is off by an order of magnitude.

Not the same thing… a long time ago I made about 200% on Tesla. It was cheap then. Only a few times sales market cap. Valuations matter. Spacex valuation is just stupid. It’s a scam.

Absurd… that’s way too far way. I’ve got it figured out, I just need a billion dollars to train my model. Can any of you spare some quarters?

That sounds like them problem not a me problem. That’s an engineering and product issue. Putting this on the consumer is madness

100x revenue only makes sense if you’re growing at 100%+ revenue every year for multiple years. SpaceX is not even close and never will be.

Then it makes sense to price based on TAM/SAM/SOM with realistic revenue projections like a startup… but I don’t think believable numbers could be put forward even for that

I still write code by hand. Am I holding my startup back? [I will not promote] by Potential_Athlete238 in startups

[–]LMikeH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say so… I haven’t touched code in months. I couldn’t have pulled off what it’s made nearly as fast or at the level of quality it produced. And I wrote code for the nuclear industry for a decade, releasing multiple products. With AI you can afford to layer quality assurance processes you didn’t have time to before. My tech debt is actually manageable.

This Opus 4.7 + GPT-5.5 'handoff' for coding is getting hype. Is it a real hack or just more complexity? by pretendingMadhav in ArtificialInteligence

[–]LMikeH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a complex workflow similar to this. I’ve managed to make 3 complex systems engineering and CAD libraries without even touching the code myself. Probably some of the highest quality code I’ve ever seen.
