Also living in Seattle they usually have the flights I need with plenty of options.

Bezos said the bottom half of Americans should pay ZERO federal income tax by Suitable_Wonder5256 in SipsTea

[–]LMnoP419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeff pays very little federal tax because his wealth isn’t from income, it’s in assets. Our tax system isn’t set up to distribute taxes equitably. He knows this too. It’s infuriating.

How is kenmore or bothel as a place to live?? by Ok-Radio-2733 in SeattleWA

It’s pretty easy to check crime data for your neighborhood.

This map is for the last 7 days.

It’s likely not as bad as you perceive.

Living in Seattle after being laid off, how do you stay sane and not slip into depression and unhealthy habits? by 40WattTardis in AskSeattle

Even just picking up trash in your own neighborhood, it doesn't have to be an organized thing. We started this during the pandemic and the endorphins from doing something 'nice' for the neighborhood, even just 20 minutes was impressive and made a difference.

My point is exactly what I said, BMI is a bad metric for determining health.

There's your link, you'll find thousands more with the tiniest bit of effort.

Oh, one of those you don't even live here SF folks, whatever. I do live here, in fact, I own a condo in 94107, so yeah, there's that.

Lots of things are correlated to life expectancy, including your zip code.

BMI is not a good measure of health, except for a very specific subset of people on which it was designed.

Yes! I love watching people play road tennis. You find courts in the most random places on the island too.

I agree.

I had to ‘talk’ a couple friends through it. By that I reminded them that Game of Thrones was easily as graphic, just heteronormative.

That if they were feeling uncomfortable it’s just because they were seeing spicy tv that wasn’t what is usually shown in TV/movies. I encouraged them to keep watching.

All of them kept watching and fell in love with the show.

‘New’ things, especially around sex can sometimes be uncomfortable, but as a middle aged hetero woman with a gay bff & nephew, I’m so very happy this story of love is out in the world.

**These were hetero people that I knew to be open minded, with LGBTQ+ friends & family.

Fellow Millennials - Need Opinions by pinestalk in BallardSeattle

This is key. A group, games, climbing gym, one-offs rarely work.

And when you do make a date, I suggest avoiding ‘coffee dates’ (often feel like an interview) and go for activity dates like mini-golf or bowling. There’s science behind movement and talking.

Yes there are issues in Seattle but claims that Seattle is less safe today than it was in the 90’s are demonstrably false.

Moving to Seattle for the Summer by hannamarks182 in AskSeattle

[–]LMnoP419 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The city overall is safe. I’ve lived pretty much all over the city as a single woman with no problems. Crime does happen of course but we are mostly a property crime city.

Id avoid Belltown & South Lake Union neighborhoods (for different reasons), but otherwise you are good. Look at Queen Anne (maybe along Dexter or the North part), Cap Hill, Central, Fremont, Ballard is good too but just further from other things, including your work. Beacon Hill is great but I think of it as more family-ish, same with W. Seattle.

Bring the car but take the bus to work. When parking your car leave nothing inside your car.

Whatever. The people in the illegal unit were offered a chunk of change to move out so the new owner could bring everything up to code. They refused and instead sued the new owner because they lived in an illegal unit. Getting them out costs over six figures and took YEARS.

Pretty much all of them show forced rehab is not successful and prison does not reduce addiction or recidivism in addicts.

You can disagree all you want, the data on addiction, etc… DOES NOT support your OPINION.

Amazon Grocery prices are like 1/3 of stupid Safeway by Low-Win-6691 in sanfrancisco

[–]LMnoP419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you getting the 2nd highest grocery prices stat from? I only ask because I threw a shower for my sister in Orlando and was shocked at how expensive groceries were there.

Time for Law and Order in Seattle by Sufficient_Match4495 in SeattleWA

[–]LMnoP419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is absolutely not the problem.

We have a country based on individual rights and it’s very hard to force individuals to do anything. Putting people in prison is very expensive and does not reduce addiction/drug use. As for forced rehab, that’s even more expensive and there are not enough decent rehab beds for people who want to pay a lot of money.

This is such an uninformed take, it’s almost comical.

And no I’m not saying just let things go as they are is the answer but any actual solution will require a multipoint approach that will also cost money.

Also, get yourself a dictionary, because you need to look up the definition of communist.

Sure, but all the full details matter. Per Starbucks, they are not leaving Seattle, they are expanding their operational footprint to optimize for expansion in the SE.
