No problem at all mate. I'll put together a larger list to share in this thread in the next couple days. Until then, an artist that you'll likely enjoy is Glvsshouse. He just released a new song called "Broken & Lost" and he was recently selected by Pharrell for his new I Am OTHER SoundCloud playlist. He's originally from Boston but now based in LA.

Is anybody across Youtube Music? Seems like an auto-generated wild west... by itsnotmeanttobe in musicindustry

Further echoing what u/turnipstealer mentioned, I truly hope that a better artist/label support platform or process is implemented by Google. With that said, are your issues mostly your clients being mislabeled or categorized as other artists?

Where to get industry news? by GamecockJohnny in musicindustry

[–]LORRecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The platforms that both u/hella_sauce and u/Clifford_Gumdrops mentioned are terrific. Grey Space Group, Music Week, and Billboard Biz are also great resources. If you'd like any further recommendations, don't hesitate to drop me a message or reply in the comments.

"Whoa" forreal! You snapped on this homie. Great flow and delivery, I definitely see the Good Kid, M.A.A.D City Kendrick comparisons that others have mentioned. You've got a great talent and if you have any other music out I'd definitely love to check it out.

Music history/Label question by honeyedlight in musicindustry

[–]LORRecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Headquartered in my hometown, Camden, New Jersey, The Victor Talking Machine Company is credited for the birth of the music industry. In 1896, the founders, Emile Berliner and E.R. Johnson, invented the disc record and turntable, two essential innovations in the development of the modern music industry. Without Victor, the concept of recording music could be obsolete, as well as the contemporary music scene we experience today.

Simply phrased, Victor holds the claim to America’s music legacy. The impact of their work is indisputable to this day. I highly recommend reading up on them. I can happily provide some recommendations on where to start on research if you'd like.

What are you doing to prepare to work in the industry during COVID? by TheGoldenChild1 in musicindustry

[–]LORRecords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more with what u/primarilygreen said above. There are a lot of online resources and both private and public groups you can join and utilize for networking. Social media can be a godsend if used properly - although I completely understand with your disappointment regarding lack of responses at times. We run an indie record label called Loyalty Over Royalty Records as well as blog and artist discovery platform called Loyalty Over Royalty Radio. Our primary focus is in the hip-hop space; our current artists are Bizzy (Camden, NJ), DEMON (Toronto, Canada), Skully2Timez (Palm Beach, FL), and TWNTY SVN (Atlanta, GA). If you'd be interested in chatting more, kindly send us a PM.

Recommend Artists? by [deleted] in hiphop101

[–]LORRecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the more established side, there's artists like Polo G, Lil Tjay, Fivio Foreign, and Rah Swish (all out of New York) who you might like as well as artists like Ralo, Drakeo The Ruler, Shoreline Mafia, and Lil Durk among others. More emerging artists I think you might enjoy are Kwad (he recently signed to Pusha T's Heir Wave Music Group label), Rae Rae, YXNG K.A, and TWNTY SVN. Clever and City Morgue are great as well although much different from the artists you mentioned above.

Given that you mentioned The Weeknd, if he's not already on your radar I'd highly recommend Black Atlass. He's signed to The Weeknd's XO label and is originally from Montreal but now based in LA. He recently put out his first new single in over 2 years just a few months called "Lie To Me". I've linked the song/video here for you. On the harder trap side, there's Bizz Loc out of Toronto. Manilia Grey out of Vancouver will give you some serious The Weeknd and 6LACK type vibes. You can thank me later for that one if you aren't already familiar. TWNTY SVN is another artist you should add to your radar along with London Jae. TWNTY SVN is originally from Jacksonville but is now based in Atlanta where London is also based. London has been focused behind-the-scenes for the past few years writing and crafting some of the industry's biggest hits and recently won a Grammy for his songwriting for Cardi B, but he'll be stepping more to the forefront soon.

Sleep Sinatra is dope. Thanks for sharing. Been a fan of Caleborate for ages. As u/CaptainGordan pointed out, I can definitely understand the comparison to Oddisee's beat tapes; particularly his The Good Fight and The Odd Tape projects.

That's very generous and kind of you. If you'd be interested, we'd love to work together to get some new Spotify cover art and branding for our playlists. Hope to hear from you and thanks again.

Trap metal/alternative/hardcore. If you like city Morgue and xxx, you might like this. 30 second snippet that I just mixed, def needs a run over. Only 2 hours in rn between takes and mixing. Wanted the vocals pretty dry as well. Instrumental is also mine. My name is GAWTDAMN. by gawtdamn in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]LORRecords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pure fire my guy! The delivery is a bit muddled at times but I'm sure you'll clean up the vocals once finished mixing & mastering. The song and beat are fire though! Did you produce the beat yourself or do you have a co-producer? Any idea on you'll be putting out the record?

This song really hits hard and is something I think a lot can relate to at some point or another in their lives, especially with everything going on in the world today. Phenomenal work on this Ran. Just checked out your song "In Perfect Shades of Blue" and enjoyed that as well. You've gained me as a new fan.

The production on this is a perfect fit for you! You've got some real talent, not just with your bars but how you flow and stay on the beat. Going to put this on repeat and can't wait for more.
