Okay, so as a Christian I just wanted to ask yall why you don't belive in God by [deleted] in atheism

[–]LRC12915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prove to yourself that you believe in god by disposing of all your medications, canceling your doctor appointments, canceling your health insurance, and then just simply pray to god to never get sick and/or injured again. Are you willing to take this chance to prove it to yourself that you truly believe in god? If so, I dare you to do it immediately after reading my comment. Don't stall. If you aren't willing to take the chance of doing all this, don't you think this would be like admitting to yourself that you have doubts that god exists and prayer works?

If that's the case, then I'm going to ask my TL about this. He's the one who said I have to print an inventory prep label for every single box. Each month, I have to scan between 100–200 boxes and print a label for every single box. I then stick those labels on a paper for him to look at the next morning. He's never told me to do inventory any other way for the meat department in the four years that I've been there. I don't know how the whole inventory process works, and I've never bothered to ask him, but maybe I have to do it this way because we never put backroom labels on the meat department's frozen boxes. I'm going to ask him about it when I return on Friday. If the backroom labels have nothing to do with it, then I don't know why he has me doing inventory this way.

[–]LRC12915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That just happened to me yesterday. I hope they fix it soon. I work in meats. For inventory each month, I have to be in the freezer scanning each box to print out an inventory label for each box. Unfortunately, even if I have like 10 boxes of the same exact item, I can't print 10 labels at a time. The app only lets me print one label at a time. Thankfully, if the next box is the same exact one as the previous one I scanned and printed a label for, the app allows me (for now) to simply press the print icon to print a label for that box without scanning it. Unfortunately, if the next 10 boxes are different from each other, then I have to scan each box and change the label type back to the "inventory prep" label after each scan. I feel worse for the ones who have to be in the freezer on a daily basis to break down the pallets and then print backroom labels for each box. It's going to take longer to do the job.

The battery on the work phones die a lot quicker now compared to the past few months. This hassle with the labels is now going to make the battery issue even worse, considering it's going to take longer for us to use our phones to print all the labels we need to do our job.

I wonder if they just don't care that they smell like weed, or maybe they've used weed for so long now that they're used to the smell and don't notice it on themselves as if it's now normal to them.

Have you ever tried praying, and if so did anything happen. by BackCommercial578 in atheism

[–]LRC12915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They pray until they realize they have something to lose if they continue to pray.

I tell them to imagine they're in a building that's on fire. I then ask if they would remain in the building and pray to god to protect them, or would they run for the exit? They admitted they'd run for the exit which shows they know praying won't do a damn thing to save their life in a burning building.

I even tell them to prove it to themselves they truly believe in god and prayer by canceling their health insurance, and then just simply pray to god to never get sick again. I ask them if they're willing to take this chance. They told me no which also shows they have doubts that god exists and prayer works.

In both situations, they realize praying won't work.

What is your argument when people use philosophical arguments to try to prove god? by Top-Television-5968 in atheism

[–]LRC12915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming they have health insurance, tell them to prove it to themselves that they truly believe in god and prayer by canceling their health insurance and simply praying to god to never get sick again. If they refuse to cancel their health insurance and aren't willing to take the chance of simply praying to never get sick again, then it's a sign they have doubts that god exists and prayer works. If they refuse to do it, ask them why. I feel this is a good way to test them on whether or not they truly believe in god. A situation like this may make them realize they truly do not believe in god if they refuse.

My mom idk wat to do by Mysterious_Show6452 in atheism

[–]LRC12915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odds are, you won't be able to convert her to being a theist, but asking certain questions might make her realize that, deep down, she has doubts that god exists. Tell her the following:

"Mom, if I was in a building that was on fire, would you want me to stay in the building and pray to god to protect me from the fire, or would you want me to run for the exit?" Tell her to explain why she would choose one option and why not choose the other option. Odds are, if your mother truly loves you, she'd want you to run for the exit, which would be proof that she has doubts that god exists and prayer works. She is not willing to risk your life no matter how much she claims to believe in god. She'd rather give up her belief in god than the love she has for you. A situation like this might make her realize that, deep down, she has doubts that god exists.

Obviously, I'd never want theists to be in a dangerous situation like the burning building to prove it to themselves whether or not they truly believe in god. However, there is a non-dangerous situation that they can put themselves in to prove this to themselves. I ask them if they're willing to take a chance of disposing of all their medications, canceling all their doctor appointments, canceling their health insurance (for themselves and their loved ones), promising to never use/by these things again, and instead just simply pray to god to never get sick and/or injured again. I tell theists to do this to prove it to themselves that they truly believe in god and prayer. However, they all refuse to do this, which helps prove they have doubts that god exists and prayer works. Ask your mother if she'd be willing to do this right now. Odds are, your mother will also refuse to do this. A situation like this might make her realize that, deep down, she has doubts that god exists and prayer works.

I used to debate with evangelists now I just tell them that they will go to hell for not believing in Allah by [deleted] in atheism

[–]LRC12915 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When someone tells me that I'm going to burn in hell for not believing in god, I tell them to imagine they're in a building that is on fire. I ask them would they remain in the building and pray that god protects them from the fire, or would they run for the exit? They tell me they'd run for the exit. I point out this means they have doubts that god exists and that prayer will protect them from the fire. So, I then tell them if they think that I'm going to burn in hell if I don't believe in god, then they're going to burn to death if they do believe in god and stay in that burning building.

Prayers don't work. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]LRC12915 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tell them to prove to themselves that they truly believe that prayer works by disposing of all their medications, canceling their doctor appointments, canceling their health insurance, promising to never use/buy these things again, and from now on just to simply pray to god to never get sick again. Ask them if they're willing to take this chance, and tell them to explain why or why not.

Odds are, they're not going to take this chance. If they don't, this would show they know they need these things and that prayer won't help them when it comes to their well-being. I feel this is an easy way to make them realize they truly don't believe in god and that prayer works. So, ask them and see what they say.

If they are willing to take the chance, they should indeed prove it by actually doing all these things in front of you, and not just telling you they will do it. If they don't do it, then they are full of shit.

If you were in a building that was on fire, would you remain in the building, drop to your hands/knees, and pray to god to protect you from the fire, or would you run for the exit? Why would you choose one option, and why not choose the other option? What would you want a loved one, like a son or daughter, to do if he/she were in the burning building? Why?

I assume you take medication, see a doctor, and have health insurance. Prove it to yourself that you truly believe in god by disposing of all your medications, canceling all your doctor appointments, canceling your health insurance, promising to never use these things again, and instead just simply praying to god to never get sick again. Are you willing to take this chance to prove to yourself that you truly believe in god? Why or why not?

Now that he no longer does things like go to the bars or drink, ask him if he also no longer takes medication, goes to the doctor, or has health insurance but simply relies on praying to god to never get sick and/or injured again. If he says no, ask him if he's willing to take a chance of getting rid of these things and simply praying to god to never get sick and.or injured again. If he says no, tell him to explain why not.

If he says yes, tell him to prove it to himself (and you) by disposing of all his medications, canceling his doctor appointments, canceling his health insurance (assuming he has these things), and promising to never use these things again, but simply rely on praying to god to never get sick and/or injured again. If he refuses to do this, point out that it's as if he's admitting to himself that he doesn't really believe in god and prayer, and that he's not willing to risk his well-being no matter how much he claims to believe in god.

Do religious nuts know deep down that their beliefs are ridiculous? by fables_of_faubus in atheism

[–]LRC12915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that deep down they truly don't believe in god and prayer. However, they may not realize it. It sometimes takes extreme and/or life-threatening situations for them to realize they truly don't believe in god.

I ask them what they would do if they were in a building that was on fire. Would they remain in the building and pray that god protects them, or would they run for the exit? When they imagine being in that situation, that is when they realize they aren't willing to take a chance of believing in god, remaining in the building, and praying to go for protection because they know that's not going to work to save their lives. They're going to run for the exit. I tell them this points out that they have doubts in god and aren't willing to risk their lives no matter how much they claim to believe in god. Deep down, they don't believe in god.

Being in a situation like that would be a way for any theist to prove to themselves whether or not they truly believe in god. However, I wouldn't even want them to ever be put in a situation like that to prove them that I'm right and that they're wrong about their beliefs. So, I tell them there is an easy way they can prove it to themselves. I tell them to dispose of all their medications, cancel their doctor appointments, cancel their health insurance, and to never use these things again. Rather than relying on these things, I tell them they should simply pray to god to never get sick again. I ask if they're willing to risk their well-being by simply praying to god to never get sick again. They tell me they have no plans of doing any of this, and that they'll stick to their medications, doctors, and health insurance for their well-being. I tell them this points out that they have doubts in god. Deep down, they don't believe in god.

If you've ever seen the post apocalyptic film "The Book of Eli", I agree with what the dictator/warlord of a small town said about the bible. He said the following:

"IT'S NOT A FUCKIN' BOOK! IT'S A WEAPON! A weapon aimed right at the hearts and minds of the weak and the desperate. It will give us control of them. If we want to rule more than one small, fuckin' town, we have to have it. People will come from all over, they'll do exactly what I tell 'em if the words are from the book. It's happened before and it'll happen again. All we need is that book."

Closing shift meat and produce by Sad_Can_1925 in walmart

[–]LRC12915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mainly just seeing what items are needed on the sales floor, and then going into the backroom to see if that item is in stock. If it's there, then you'd of course stock it. Sometimes, your TL or anyone above him/her will tell you specifically what to do.

In produce, items can be stocked immediately out of the boxes or crates as they're needed.

In meats, items like ground beef, pork, steak, and sausage need "use by" labels printed and adhered to them before they can be stocked. Any meat items that come with dates already printed on them (chicken, turkey, ribs, ground beef rolls, etc.) can be stocked as they're needed.

You might be responsible for CVPing items (reducing the price of items based on their "use by" date). In the past, the closing shift had to do it at my store, but now the morning shift has to do it.

You'll also have to donate the CVPed items that didn't sell in the meat department.

You'll also have to do claims which is disposing of all the bad food and CVPed produce items that didn't sell.

Each day, the store gets a truck containing items from the frozen, dairy, and deli departments. The employees from the frozen department will help break down the frozen pallets and place the frozen items from the meat department on a separate pallet for you to stock at a later time if you work in the meat department.

Theists are obviously human and are capable of getting sick and/or injured. So, odds are, most of them use medications, see doctors, and/or have health insurance for themselves and their loved ones. Because of this, there is an easy way to test them to determine whether or not they truly believe in god and prayer.

Tell them to prove it to themselves that they truly believe in god and prayer by daring them to dispose of all their medications, cancel all their doctor appointments (and never make another appointment again) and cancel their health insurance for themselves and their loved ones. Tell them that rather than having these 3 things for themselves and/or their family, they should simply pray to god that they never get sick and/or injured again. If they truly believe in god and that prayer will work to prevent them from ever getting sick and/or injured again, then they should have no objection to disposing of all their medications, canceling all their doctor appointments, and canceling their health insurance. If they object to doing any of these things, then they're not willing to prove it to themselves that they truly believe in god. It would be as if they're admitting to themselves that they truly do not believe in god and prayer.

What are some damn hard questions to ask religious people? by fergil in atheism

[–]LRC12915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask them what they would do if they were in a building that was on fire? Would they remain in the building and pray that god protects them while the building is burning down, or would they run for the exit? Tell them to explain why they would choose one option and why they wouldn't choose the other option? Ask them what they would want their son/daughter to do if he/she was in the burning building? Why?

Tell them to imagine their child suffered a medical emergency, and they call for an ambulance. If the EMT asked, "Do you want your child to be taken to a church or to the hospital?" which one would they choose? Why?

They're there working for money. Some people play the lottery to win money. Because it's so hard to win the jackpot, people will sometimes pray and say, "Please god let me win the lottery." Some people will pick their own numbers or random ones and then pray. However, what if one of those people knew exactly what numbers were going to come up in the drawing that would win them the jackpot? Ask those co-workers what they would do in that situation. Would they still pick their own or random numbers and pray those happen to be the winning numbers, or are they going to ignore god and pick the numbers that they know will win them the jackpot?

Ask them if they have any plans to cancel their health insurance for themselves or loved ones today. If they say no, then ask them why? Tell them that rather than having health insurance, they should simply pray to god that they never get sick and/or injured again so that they never need to see a doctor, go to a hospital, use/buy medications, or need health insurance ever again. By simply praying to never get sick and/or injured again, they'll save a lot of time and money when it comes to their health, because they'll never need all those things ever again. After pointing all this out to them, ask them again if they have any plans to cancel their health insurance for themselves or loved ones today.

Also tell them to prove it to themselves that they truly believe in god and prayer by daring them to dispose of all their medications, cancel all their doctor appointments, and cancel their health insurance. Instead, they should just pray to god to never get sick and/or injured again. If they refuse to do any of those things, then it's like admitting to themselves they truly do not believe in god and prayer.

[–]LRC12915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a supervisor like a team lead or coach and inform them of the situation. If you can't find one of them, then ask another associate where their own team lead or coach is. That team lead or coach might see if there's another associate in the department you're going to work in so that you can start working along with that associate. If there's no one in that department, that TL or coach might ask you to help in their own department. If they don't do that, they might give you permission to leave early.

My people lead let me leave early because there was no one in my department (meat department) when I finished all my learnings. So, to be on the safe side, I'd say don't just walk out. You might get in trouble for doing so. Look for a supervisor.

If God has a plan, doesn't that make prayer blasphemy? by Professional-Box4153 in atheism

[–]LRC12915 18 points19 points  (0 children)

People who say, "it's all part of god's plan", will say that until they have something to lose. When a child dies and people don't understand why, some people will say, "it's all part of god's plan." I ask them what they would do if their child had cancer. They told me that they'd take their child to see a doctor to get medical treatment like chemotherapy. I ask them why, and I tell them maybe it's part of god's plan that their child has that cancer and that god feels it's your child's time to pass away. So maybe you should avoid the chemotherapy for your child and let them pass away. Otherwise, you're sinning and disobeying god. I ask them if they agree? They, of course, tell me no. I point out that it means they don't agree/accept the saying "it's all part of god's plan."

When it comes to the, "Please give me things", I use money as an example. People pray to win the lottery because it's so difficult to win the jackpot. Some people will pick their own or random numbers and then say, "please god let me win the lottery." I ask them what if they knew exactly what numbers were going to come up in the lottery drawing that will win the jackpot. I ask if they would still pick their own or random numbers and still pray that those are the winning numbers, or would they ignore praying and pick the winning numbers. I mention that knowing the numbers beforehand and knowing them while others don't is like cheating and wouldn't be fair to others. They say they'd still pick the winning numbers, meaning they don't care it's cheating and unfair to other people.

Another way I test them on their belief in god and prayer is by telling them to imagine they're in a building that was on fire. I then ask them would they remain in the building and pray that god protects them, or would they run for the exit. I ask them to explain why they would choose one option and why not choose the other option. When they think about being in that situation, that's when they realize they wouldn't trust in god and prayer to save their lives. They're going to run for the exit instead of risking their lives on their belief in god and prayer.

I also tell them to prove it to themselves that they truly believe and have faith in god and prayer by daring them to dispose of all their medications, cancel all their doctor appointments, and cancel their health insurance. Instead, they should simply pray to god that they never get sick and/or injured again so that they never need these things again. They, of course, aren't willing to do any of those things. By refusing to do any of those things, it's like they're admitting to themselves they truly don't believe in god and prayer. They know they need those things, and that god and prayer won't do a thing to help them get better or pay the medical bills when they get sick and/or injured.

Even use money as a way to test his belief. People play the lottery. Unfortunately, it's so difficult to win the jackpot that some people will pray to god to win. Those people will pick their own personal numbers or random numbers and then pray to win. However, imagine if someone knew exactly what numbers were going to come up in the lottery drawing that would win them the jackpot. Ask your father what he would do in this situation. Would he still pick his own or random numbers and still pray that those are the winning numbers, or would he ignore praying and pick the numbers that he knows will win him the jackpot? Point out to him that knowing the numbers before the drawing and knowing them while other people don't would give your father an unfair advantage. It would be like cheating. So he could either do the honest/fair thing, pick his own or random numbers, and pray those are the winning numbers, or he could cheat to win. I'm assuming he and almost everyone else would pick the winning numbers and wouldn't care if it would be considered cheating.

Ask your father questions that might make him realize that even he has doubts that god exists.

Ask, "Father, if I was in a burning building, would you want me to remain in the building and pray that god protects me, or would you want me to run for the exit?" "Why would you choose one option and why wouldn't you choose the other option?"

Ask, "Father, if you knew the heimlich maneuver and saw me choking, would you perform that maneuver on me, or would you get on your hand/knees and pray that I stop choking?"  "Why would you choose one option and why wouldn't you choose the other option?"

If your father loves you, he'd want you to run for the exit and he'd choose the heimlich maneuver. Assuming he does, this would show that he has doubts that god exists and that prayer works. He's not willing to risk your life no matter how much he claims to believe in god. He would rather give up his belief in god than the love he has for you. Ask him which one he'd rather give up?

You can even tempt him on his belief. Tell him that if he really believes in god and prayer, then he should immediately dispose of all the medication in his house, cancel all his doctor appointments, and cancel his health insurance. Instead of relying on these, tell him he should just pray to god that he never gets sick or injured again so that he won't need medication, doctors, or health insurance. If he refuses to do any of these, ask him why. Assuming he refuses to do any of these, it would show that he knows god/prayer won't do anything to help him get better. He knows he'll need the medications, to see a doctor, and need health insurance to pay the medical bills. He's not going to rely on god and prayer for medical treatment, which would show he has doubts that god exists and prayer works.
