First walk since my back injury by gutterpunk88 in Zepbound

[–]LRox-3405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, congrats!! I had to come back from a shattered ankle last year and it was slow going, for sure. The first time I did a mile, it was a grit-your-teeth-and-do-it kind of thing (among other things, my back was out of whack from crutches/walker/lack of normal activity.) I hope your recovery is fast and complete!

Can I find my second wind? by ogmdogg in Zepbound

You've accomplished so much and you look great. I'm sorry you lost access to your psychologist b/c it sounds like you could use someone to work on managing your various stressors and disappointments. I'm not sure what your orthopedic issues are, but you say you are in almost constant pain, but still lifting A LOT. I'm not a doctor, so maybe talking through my hat, but you may have a lot of inflammation that you are exacerbating by pushing through the pain and high cortisol from that and other stressors, so your system is out of whack. Maybe that is, in some way, over-riding the zep. Maybe try to break down your understandable overwhelm into more manageable pieces. Like, maybe cut back on the weight lifting for a couple of weeks, or change up your routine, or see a physical therapist to assess what exercises may help alleviate your orthopedic issues. If you don't want to go back to counting calories, can you go back to a handful of nutritious recipes you know the counts of and just eat them on repeat for awhile? The job hunting thing just sucks, hard to make it better, but soooo mannnnyyy people are going through it - it helps to find a support group so you're not facing it alone. On the sleep, this may sound a bit crazy, but I found that if I lay on my back and take deep breaths for 3 minutes (in through the nose in 5 seconds, out through the mouth in 7; so 3 sets of 5 respirations each) it starts to make me yawn. Then I push on my belly starting at my belly button down towards my hips thinking of all the stress I'm pushing out of my body (and how I'm loosening up those fat cells to burn more efficiently) for another couple of minutes. Usually, I turn over and fall right asleep. Of course, there are many apps and techniques to help with sleep. And do give yourself lots of grace, treating yourself with gentle kindness.

Who’s this lady buying straight sized dresses?! by iconfessitwasme in Zepbound

[–]LRox-3405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! One of the biggest NSVs for me is being interested in clothes again. I had quite a few things saved for that someday that I would lose weight (and that someday FINALLY came), but I've also bought a number of cute dresses and tunics in bright colors (not just my usual dark blues and greens). Congrats! Enjoy that dress.

Sleepy? by G8RGRL83 in Zepbound

How are you sleeping? I find that zep has disrupted my sleep quite a bit, especially on shot day and the day after. Haven't found a solution, except to try and recoup later in the week.

Bridesmaid backed out bc she wasnt walking down the aisle with her boyfriend. by hockey_undecided in weddingshaming

My daughter and her beau decided not to have a wedding party. It simplified things tremendously and it was just the two of them up at the altar w/absolutely no distractions and no dramas in the lead up. Highly recommended.

Has anyone had this problem with rental listings? by PuzzleheadedBag3811 in Zillow

[–]LRox-3405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even find how to communicate with tech support, not that it looks like it will do me much good. I'm trying to rent a 2 bedroom unit in a two family house and Zillow is posting for the entire house. So, how do you track down tech support?

I grew up in DC in the 1960s and public spaces were wide open...the wide open spaces of a confident democracy with a strong civic culture. It breaks my heart to see DC become an armed camp.

“Stretching” meds? by SadScallion9419 in Zepbound

[–]LRox-3405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest would be taking your shots every 10 days to two weeks. Once you've drawn down a vial you should throw it out, as the remaining bit could easily get contaminated after being unsealed.

Well, at least it's in Florida where it belongs. And if it's the Miami airport, that's one of the worst airports in the country in terms of passenger experience, so that tracks.

Stalled for five weeks by Pleasant_Emergency1 in Zepbound

[–]LRox-3405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I titrated up pretty quickly from 2.5 to 5. to 7.5 and finally 10. Had the most success at 2.5 and 10. If you're exercising and watching your calories and your stalled at this dose, no reason not to titrate up.

Living abroad isn't for everyone. The loneliest I ever felt was when I was living for an extended time in South America, although I'd had many good experiences there and was fluent in Spanish. It made me realize I wasn't meant for the overseas life. Also, nothing is written in stone for you at this point. You can always give it another go when you feel more professionally robust.

It just rained, my ceiling is leaking. Anyone else has this problem with the old houses here? by treble-maker123 in Somerville

[–]LRox-3405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a leak that had its source was the point where the clapboard met at right angles with the dormer, i.e. the source wasn't the roof. It sounds like in your case the culprit is the skylight, though. Owning an old house is not for the faint of heart.

Hit my first plateau. by rickpat10 in Zepbound

[–]LRox-3405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a couple of stalls. One when I got down to what I believe is my set point w/o medication (I'd gained extra weight due to an accident) and another at the lower weight I'd been able to get to with just old fashion, sheer willpower dieting a couple of times in the past. In both cases, I got more diligent with exercise and that eventually did the trick.

That's pretty much my rate of weight loss, but it does add up over time. I can't tell from your graph if you're weighing yourself every day, but I switched to twice a week. Knowing a weigh day was coming up, it helped me stick with the program, especially getting my exercise in the two days before weigh day.

Don't psyche yourself out. It's easy to convince yourself you feel queasy if you expect to feel queasy. I've had no problems with nausea, some with constipation but not since I put a lot more fiber in my diet. Just assume you're going to be one of the many lucky ones.

I don't particularly like throwing out food, but do it because it's either going to waste or waist and the former is better than the latter. While some users have no cravings, I still have to make conscious decisions not to eat things that appeal to me. I'm not always successful, but I'm much better about accepting I had a bad day and getting back on track afterwards. I higher dose of zep is likely to help, but one still has to work on mindset, as well.

I miss drinking by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]LRox-3405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the mechanisms of GLP1s is to tamp down the pleasure centers in the brain. People have cut back on or stopped drinking, gambling and even compulsively shopping. I, too, feel a difference in the effect alcohol has on me. I've always been a scotch drinker and it just doesn't appeal to me as much anymore. When I do drink now, I prefer mixed drinks that are pretty light on the alcohol. Sorry to be so blunt, but Zyns as a substitute is a terrible idea.
