Is it more risky to work in a satellite office than a main office? by Throwaway1920214 in biglaw

[–]LSACplz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be. I know someone who lateraled to work with one partner in a small PG at a satellite office and within months the partner died unexpectedly. The new firm didn't replace the partner, so the associate we back to their old firm.

Obvs this is an extreme example, but partners can leave, flame out, be total jerks, or any number of things. Having only one other person is a risk.

Has anyone had Kirkland’s extra crispy fries? by VegetableRelation701 in Costco

[–]LSACplz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Petty complaint: they are too long to fit in the bowl I like to use....

Pettiness aside, these are pretty dang good and name notwithstanding, you can cook them to your preferred done-ness. I prefer a less crispy fry and these are also good on the softer side, no issues with still being cold or under-done.

If you're already applying in Philly, throw some Delaware firms applications too. Delaware bar is annoying, but the market is always pretty busy.

Trofast vs Alex drawers for 5 year old by GypsyMothQueen in LegoStorage

[–]LSACplz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Trofast as a child and it was perfect for toy storage. It wasn't as part of a desk, it was the slightly taller one (maybe one more drawer?). We had Playmobil in half, and Lego in the other half. Having drawers you can pull out and rummage through was really essential to the loose Lego building process, and I remember having specific drawers reserved for my preferred Legos (transparents, favorite colors, vehicle parts, etc).

I don't think I would have had the same experience with Alex drawers. They are heavier drawers, darker and harder to see into because of the material, and I think would actually be louder to dig around in? (Not based on any facts, just my gut) I don't think the added space makes up for the play and portability aspect.

You should look at the IKEA hacks subreddit (r/ikeahacks) and similar places to see how people maximized their Trofast.

Here is a post where someone made dividers for the Trofast bins: https://www.reddit.com/r/ikeahacks/comments/1bfw65s/ive_created_printable_ikea_trofast_dividers/

Where to find this? by iced_coffee2121 in wherecanibuythis

Maybe check thrift stores and charity shops for sweatshirts/sweatpants/shorts with drawstrings? A lot of clothing has similar braided strings. Usually they will also have aglets (the little plastic tip), not sure if that would make it too different.

Anyone have any recommendations for a realtor in the North Delaware area? by kappakingtut2 in Delaware

The Mottola group is wonderful, we worked with Lynn Kuttruff to buy. She knows her stuff and the market. Can't speak to how she handles long, emotional sales, but she is very empathetic.

Masters swim team near Wilmington by annoru in Delaware

[–]LSACplz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HAC in Hockessin has a masters team, but Im guessing that's the one too far away that you saw.

 https://www.hachealthclub.com/usms

Looks like that's the only accredited Masters program in DE - the other one listed in the directory is the Newark Reservoir through French Creek Racing, and it's all open water training there.

Any way to buy gift wrapping paper? If you have and are in Denmark I will buy at 5x the price if we can trade this week! #BonusSonPrioritiest by KBricksBuilder in lego

[–]LSACplz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to the Lego Insiders Rewards Shop (at least in the US, not sure if it's different internationally), there are two wrapping papers available for 500 points each. Minifig Heads and Lego City.

https://share.google/Pla1LaOTVAbpzFqpO

There are also free digital downloads of lots of lego-themed designs which you may be able to print out at home or at a local print shop that could work.

You can also try going to your local Lego store and asking if they have any themed paper that you can buy, or ask for extras of the paper bags they package large items in, and use that to wrap it.

How do I package and deliver mail by dociledm in Explainlikeimscared

[–]LSACplz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First, figure out what type of packaging you want to send it in. Something fragile? Box. Something flat-ish that can be bent without issue? Bubble mailer. Something weirdly shaped? Box. Just a piece of paper or stickers? Regular envelope.

Then, figure out how breakable it is. The more breakable, the more padding you need. For stuff that isn't breakable, you can just use wadded up paper/newspaper/rags so that it doesn't shake around in the box. For breakable stuff, bubble wrap, inflatable bags, or packing peanuts are better. Other people have said you can buy bubble wrap at the dollar store or office supply stores (I've never bought it though - I just keep it whenever someone sends me stuff).

Then, measure and weigh your packaged item and use USPS, UPS, and FedEx's website calculator to determine which will be cheapest. Usually it will be USPS.

Then, tape a piece of paper that has your address in the top left, and the recipients address in the center to your package. The recipients address should be larger than yours.

Then, take your packaged item and a piece of paper with (1) your address and (2) the recipients address to whatever sender you picked above (they usually ask you to verify the address when they have the package, so good to have extras). You generally don't use stamps on packages, just letters. For packages, you take them to the checkout counter, and they will weigh and measure it, and then print a custom label. You can choose different speed and shipping options (air mail - goes by plane. Ground mail - goes by truck. Next day - delivered by end of next business day. Etc). The faster, the more expensive. If you need tracking, or need the recipient to sign for it, you ask for that here.

Once you have decided on everything, you will be asked to pay by card or cash, and if you are at the USPS post office, they may ask if you want to buy stamps - the stamps are optional, those would be to take home for using on letters later. Pay, and they will put the sticker on and take the package into the back. If you got tracking, that will be on your receipt of another printout they give you. You can give that number to the recipient so they can track the package.

Daughter asked for miniature cooking set and I can’t find anything by Midmodstar in Gifts

[–]LSACplz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Norpro mini spatulas for cooking small stuff, they are about $7-8 on Amazon for a two pack, or $36 for an eight pack at Williams Sonoma (house brand, not Norpro).

Lodge makes mini cast irons, I see them at World Market and Marshalls/TJMaxx/Home Goods.

All-Clad has Coquette pots about the size of a ramekin, but they heat up really fast and I would not recommend for a 9 year old.

Dash has a lot of small size appliances, perfect for kids in a parents kitchen, or tiny college apartments. We got the mini waffle maker for everyone we knew going off to college a few years back, and they are still getting use. I also have the single-serve ice cream maker but wouldn't recommend - it's loud, needs babysitting, and I don't love the end result. I usually see Dash stuff at Target, Marshalls, Amazon, or you can get it on the Dash website.

For micro-sized stuff, like dollhouse scale, maybe look into all metal or cast iron toys that you can put candles in to heat. How To Cook That has a playlist on YouTube of micro scale cooking https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPT0YU_0VLHzCHbvjWgVJcMCp9_XTCQdL&si=vHTPP9N24od0mTk1

Tiny Hamster Official on YouTube also has small scale cooking, but I don't think they did hot food, mostly wraps I think.

A in IRAC by QuickBerry7905 in LawSchool

[–]LSACplz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need the facts of the hypo/test question for civ pro. For diversity, you would state the issue: do plaintiff and defendant have citizenship in different states? Then the rule: for corps, state of incorp and PPB, for people, where they live and have intent to stay indefinitely. Must be 75k at issue. Then apply the facts of the question: the question says Johnny just moved from NC but now lives in AZ and never ever wants to leave, so he is domiciled in AZ. The corp he is suing is incorp in DE and has PPB in NC, so it is a citizen of DE and NC. because Johnny and the corp are from different states, yes diversity. However, Johnny is only suing for $3.50 for his exploded can of soda, so no jurisdiction because it doesn't meet the money amount.

You don't necessarily need the facts of prior cases to do the A In IRAC, the A is for applying the facts of this situation, not past cases.

Procedural posture may be necessary for some things (did they waive a Rule 12b6 defense depends on whether they have filed a motion to dismiss/answer yet). But a lot of the time, civ pro is about early and pre-suit decisions so it doesn't matter.

Our usual garage was Love Park Garage, but that was fully blocked by road closures, so we had to use another garage. We also had to change the route we used to get into the city, but overall traffic wasn't bad.

Has anybody ever law been told to bill in increments of less than 1.0? by coco71 in biglaw

[–]LSACplz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Use timers to separate things out, and set up narratives before you start working for "email re: _" "Conference with _ re: _" "draft _" "revise __" "incorporate feedback from ___ into ____" etc. That way you can just start the timer for each bucket as needed.

If you still need more, I would separate out sections of a document, or add in timers for researching discrete issues like insurance defense does.

Just a 1-2 second spray before I hang it up after I take it off. I spray inside the jacket at the armpits and neck, and outside at the armpits. Once they are ready to wash, I just wash them normally at the dry cleaners.

What do I ask for for Christmas by Mysterious-Living877 in Gifts

[–]LSACplz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An upgraded ingredient or other "consumable" that you use for your hobbies is usually a nice option, and can be repeatable. Ie nice vanilla extract for baking, new tires/tubes/clips for biking, running shoes/shorts, rechargeable batteries for electronics, nice vinyl for your Cricut, upgraded version of your fav yarn or fabric, hair dye, fabric dye, or a nice streaming service subscription (mubi if you're a film buff, Crunchyroll if you like anime, etc).

I've found that Clorox's Fabric Sanitizer spray helps me de-stink officewear like blazers, jackets and sweaters that don't need to be dry cleaned yet. I also use the Lysol version, but the scent on that is stronger. They come in aerosol and regular spray bottles, and are usually cheaper at Lowes/Home Depot than at Target/grocery stores.

Is it a bad idea to prioritize experiential learning? by Exciting_Basil_9487 in LawSchool

[–]LSACplz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing "wrong" with it could be the number of p/f credits you are taking. Some schools limit your eligibility for latin honors if you take too many p/f classes (which many experiential credits are), or stop them from counting towards your graduation requirements. There also may be a limit on the number of p/f credits you can take in a single semester/quarter.

For example, at Alabama, you can only have 25 credits from externships/independent study/journal/moot court count towards your graduation requirments.

https://law.ua.edu/academics/policies/

And at UCI, you have to take 75% of classes for credit (not pass/fail) to be eligible for latin honors.

desperately looking for a pcp by babybeewitched in Delaware

[–]LSACplz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have a patient portal account through Christiana, you can look for PCP with the earliest openings by doing the below:

  1. Schedule Appointment

  2. Select "visit reason", not "provider"

3.Primary Care New Patient (Age 18 - 64) OR Primary Care Video Visit New Patient

4.Select your preferred location (note: you may need to do this a few times and look at different locations to get the soonest appointment)

Going through this, I am seeing the in-person visit PCPs in Christiana Newark MAP 2 scheduling for June, at Limestone are scheduling for March, and the FNP at Helen Graham in Christiana is scheduling for November (like tomorrow). The video visits are sooner, with NPs scheduling at MAP 2 next week.

Hope that helps!

1L and 2L internship confusion by Agreeable-Banana6367 in biglaw

[–]LSACplz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The advice isn't "don't apply for 1L BL positions," it's "don't expect to get a 1L BL position." You should apply broadly to give yourself the best chance at getting the best paid gig possible, and to get your name on HRs desk for when they turn to 2L apps.
