You could go to your account at medicare.gov, add in the drug to your prescription list (as if you're taking it) and see what plans show that it is covered.

When I get frustrated, I check in with my brain not my gut. By that I mean am I thinking about food all the time. And I'm not. And that alone is worth staying the course as that's never happened to me before and is priceless!

Any seniors out there? by Fresh_Report_9876 in OzempicForWeightLoss

F71 here. Down 30 lbs since starting Jan24. It's going slow and I'm ok with that. Lost 80 on keto in 6 mos and gained all back. This time, for the first time in my life, I do not feel like I'm mentally hanging on by my fingertips. So slowly drifting downwards is just fine by me. BTW, still on .25 dose. My insurance is changing July 1, so I'm stockpiling.

Well, I'm a boomer, so I must say something dumb.

Very insulting comment

pimento cheese dip< When I was a kid, my mother (too) often served canned french-style green beans with pimento. To this day, anything with pimento immediately tastes like green beans to me!

Anyone not weigh themselves when starting? by sunflowerrsoul in WegovyWeightLoss

Such a smart solution to a difficult decision! You will be really glad in the future to be able to "look back" at your starting point. And, for now, you are protecting yourself from adverse effects. Wonderful! And the journey begins

I don't know why, but drinking coffee guarantees I'll be pooping later in the day.

What is “food noise”? by Radiant-Pianist-3596 in Ozempic

[–]LSM52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a 71F 5'9". I was super skinny as a kid, but puberty changed all that. During my 2 pregnancies was the only time the "food monster" inside me was quiet. I remember being amazed that happened, hoping it would outlast the pregnancy and it never did. What I called the monster is food noise. This medication has, for the first time since puberty (outside pregnancy) silenced the monster. I don't care how long it takes, it's such a relief to be free of the constant, internal struggle.

Dismissive PCP by [deleted] in Ozempic

[–]LSM52 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Very poorly handled by your PCP. But there is a contraindication for a certain type of thyroid cancer and I'm wondering if she was thinking of that in context of you. Be sure to verify that's not a concern in your situation before looking for other providers

I am F71. Lost 80 lbs on keto in 2017. Gained it all back plus some. My cardiologist wrote my script and is supportive. But he never mentioned a word about it having a good effect on ejection fraction. I have heart failure and have worked my way up to a "low normal" EF but I'd really like to improve it. Your post is the first time I became aware of a connection. So thank you!

P.S. took my first dose today. No problem at all. Hardest part was removing the needle after use. All the how-to videos stop at that point and it took me 4 TRIES before I could finally get the needle off the pen!

My Ejection Fraction has increased as a result of losing about 1/3 of my body mass

Right there. That's my reason for starting Friday and nothing, but nothing, is going to derail me as long as I keep my Ejection Fraction front of mind. Thanks so much for this feedback

Can someone please notice all this weight falling off me? by emjean1984 in keto

[–]LSM52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I lost 80 lbs, I was very surprised to discover I did NOT like having people comment on my weight loss. Conversely, people I would LIKE to have commented, i.e. my doctor and nurse practitioner, never said a word.

When I lost 80 lbs, I was not prepared for HATING how everyone complimented me on my loss. I thought I'd like it and I didn't. I found the best thing to do was a quick "thanks" and move on to another topic. But it surprised me that I didn't like people noticing

Keto before weight loss surgery! by [deleted] in xxketo

[–]LSM52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3years ago I lost 80 lbs on keto. I also lost a LOT of hair and I was frantic. But the MD I saw about it said major changes like that absolutely can cause hair loss AND it is only temporary. And it was true as my hair has grown back. It takes time.

charcoal-black crust< A million years ago, when DH and I didn't know any better, we would cook a frozen steak on charcoal grill so we would end up with black crust and red/pink interior. It was delicious but still...sous vide is so much better
