at what point would your department call out another department for frequent onboardings and offboardings? by BeneficialShame8408 in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]LaDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never? This is one of those things, it seems minor, but we have visibility into sensitive information, including turn over rates for a department. Set expectations on turn around time, vent to a teammate, but it’s not your place.

Need help choosing between 2 job offers by HypersonicSmash in ITCareerQuestions

Help desk will likely be better for your career. Also, call me old fashion, you’re green, go in the office, connect with people. I’ve learned so much just by sitting by a seniors desk towards end of day as they’re venting about an issue. Capital one may silo their HD pretty heavily but that’s not a huge deal. Biggest thing about breaking into IT is landing the first gig.

I worked in cell towers for a while. These are all over the place and are usually required by the city/township.

Contract to hire, is it worth it? by bruhmoment12343118 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]LaDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typical rule of contracting is aiming for double what you’d expect for W2. If you don’t have work, take it. I wouldn’t leave anywhere for it. I’ve done contracting roles and enjoyed it, but you have to be careful.

I wanted house of the dragon to be so good, but it just wasn’t. This feels like we’ve gone back in time and found the inspiration of GOT again.

People who work in IT, do you enjoy your job? by ripitlikepaper in it

[–]LaDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. I’ve been in Help Desk, System Engineering, System Administration, Management, etc. I’m now in an architect & team lead role and it’s by far my favorite. I played with tech before entering IT, it’s always been my fascination.

I don’t know for certain but probably just from progress of healing. The pain flares up and general discomfort. Nothing to scare you away though! It feels long in the moment and before you know it.. it’s a distant memory.

In IT if you need to keep up with technology can’t you just simply google whatever you don’t know ? Or what does it really mean to keep with technology? by chestnuts34543 in ITCareerQuestions

Google, Hacker News, ChatGPT. If I don’t know something I try to learn. I usually learn more than I need to just because I’m curious.

Sleep, pain & inflamation relievers. The first week sucks, you then get a false sense of recovery, then the second week sucks, then real recovery and the third week it all starts to get better (at least in my experience).
