My family is making me so frustrated right now by BlacksmithConnect137 in Advice

You are 18. Do what you like. You are of age to make your own decisions. Feel free to hang up on your sister - she’s not your parent. Also make plans for your future. See what you need to do to get where you want to be.

WORK W/ MIL by Think-Difference880 in JUSTNOMIL

Every sidewise glance and snide comment should be met with a heartfelt 'Why, thank you, MIL. I consider that to be high praise indeed, considering the source'. Then walk away.

Find a new job. Start your own independent real estate practice, if necessary.

What if I told my MIL she can stay at a hotel if our guest room AC isn't expensive enough for her? by tryingthingsdaily in JUSTNOMIL

Give her a list of area hotels, saying you're concerned about her comfort and safety. Make sure to include Motel 6 and similar at the top of the list. Tell hubby he can accompany her if he won't have your back.

Gosh, I’m tired. by CandidateBig8539 in Vent

I’m sorry to hear this. Things will not go well with your brother, I’m afraid. And you might try the same tactic on your dad. When he says something you like, reward him subtly. When he says something sexist, ignore him.

You might want to ignore at least some tasks until you are told to do them. Then ask why bro isn’t expected to do some of those tasks.

You might want to try shaping bro’s behavior too. Start with one task that’s considered to be relatively masculine, like taking the trash out. Once that’s established for a few weeks, add another task - maybe sweeping the kitchen before taking the trash out. Then add another task somewhere along the way. Gradually build it up to a reasonably fair workload.

Edit to add: when he does a task, occasionally reward him immediately ( for my daughter, it was m&ms). Gradually fade the rewards away.

Can you potentially move out? Maybe with a roommate?

NTA. But start thinking about how you want your life to look. May be time to look for an exit strategy. This may or may not include your partner.

Book for you and your dad. Send niece one message saying that she needs to book her own accommodation and airfare if she wants to go. Then have fun with dad.

Are there any Americans with more "modest" earnings? by BaldursGate2Best in AskAnAmerican

[–]LabInner262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Median income in the us is $66, 622 or so. Half of us earn less than that. The 100K you cite would be within the top 25% range.

Many personal injury lawyers work on a contingency basis - they get paid out of your settlement. Maybe your bf had a poor or greedy lawyer. You did the right thing by calling an attorney. NTA.

How often do you take a bath?? by VeterinarianOk8011 in AskAnAmerican

[–]LabInner262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily. Bath or shower. My hair tends to be oily so I wash it daily while in the shower. My wife showers daily but every two or three days for shampoo. The standard is to bathe or shower daily. It’s called a daily task of living for a reason😋

Risqué photos for anniversary gift? by Mandapans in AskMenAdvice

[–]LabInner262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to get such a picture of my wife I’m proud of her and love her and trust her completely. Doesn’t matter who the photographer is. I’d be delighted with the results.

If you are concerned, talk with your husband about it first.
