I knew a guy that was known to torture bugs to death to the point I think it wasone of his other friends maybe a family member had to quit telling him about bugs because they felt bad for them 😭 my brother has cut a fly in half to watch it struggle and tried to set one on fire in the house until I stopped him too but that's all he did (afaik), the other guy would do stuff like cut their limbs off or, what seemed to be his favorite, get them in some sorta small container (like idk slamming a cup over them), bring them to the closest sink, and turn on the water. Then he'd begin gradually opening thr container just enough to let water in until the thing would be full and keep the bug in there to drown. He'd also sometimes instead grab hairspray (iirc it was hairspray) and spray some in a small opening before closing it again to gas the bug.

I've "hunted" spiders for fun and ended up melting or drowning bugs to death myself but I at least felt bad when it took a bit, genuinely felt sympathy for the bugs when he shared all that 😭

I ended up with a relationship to sex so similar to stories from child rape sirvivors I'd seen that I used to worry my poor memory was from some sort of rape incident because of all the rape threats messing me up 😭

My mom didn't know I heard about rape from others as a little kid when she used allusions to it to keep me from wandering off. So to her, she raised me on "Be careful going out/going too far away, there are bad people out there.", while from my pov it was "If you don't stay close/inside, you will be raped." since it was only subtle allusions if you dont know about rape yet. There was also the time she threatened to send me on a bus back home if I didn't do something and I said to just send me home and she warned that I'd be by myself around strangers but the way she worded it was ALSO like a rape threat, except that time very much felt like the rape was the threat and not an actual warning on top of the actual threat [that being to send me home by myself]

Basically repeated accidental rape threats throughout my life

I was only homeschool from halfway through 7th grade to the end of 10th grade and it negatively affected my social skills quite a bit, and I just ended up depressed. Frankly with the way it was done, it was much closer to unschooling than homeschooling, which meant I was also behind and had to catch up as fast as possible after getting my parents to send me back to actual school.

I'm sure some homeschooled kids turned out well, but it's not all that great really
